Most of them you do have to carefully pry. You look on the inside of the door and you will see the choke seal. It runs around the whole outer edge on the inside of the door. Take a butter knife or a small screw driver and start to pop it up and out of the door. Slowly work around the door until it is completely free. Once you get that out you will see the door hook and will just have to look how it is mounted into the door. There will be a spring attached to it to allow it to pull up and down as the door is opened and closed. Make note of where the spring is attached to the inside of the door frame. It will have to hook onto your new part and back on the inner door.

You are correct. The handle screws can be accessed by simply removing the interior facing of the door, and can easily be replaced without the assistance of a repairman. This is a common problem with some microwave oven doors.
To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.
The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.
This repair can be done with the door in place, or you can remove it for easier access. If you decide the remove the door, simply open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door will lift off of the hinge pins. Place on a hard flat surface with some towels under it for padding. This protects the door facing from scatches.
If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Hi Seems the alignment could be off or the latch could be bad. Unplug the unit and remove the cover. Don't touch the silver canister with wires it is a capacitor and it can kill you. If the latch has popped out of the slot you can put it back, you will have to open the door to do this, just lift on the door hooks and you can open it, or replace it. You can take apart the housing, once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open. Hello,To get the door open and salvage your dinner, take a long thin blade ( I used a frosting spreader) and insert from the bottom between the door and the oven frame on the side with the latches (usually next to the control panel). You may have to pry the bottom of the door open just a bit. The object is to push up the lower door latch (which is connected to the upper door latch) and manually open the door. You may have to try a few times but this worked perfectly for me and saved dinner. Obviously the door latch needs to be repaired but this solves the immediate problem of dinner being held hostage by a recalcitrant microwave.
wish you good luck,
take care.
