Replaced HLS6187 Bulb 2 months ago, the picture was dark, so the bulb was toasted. New bulb is a Phillips and the picture was fantastic. Now getting random shutdown and three blinking lights (same as when old bulb was toasty). Reseated the bulb and it was good for a couple weeks, but now, the TV shuts down quite often and sometimes won't last 5 minutes. Ballast?

OK...Did you replace the lamp with a Sony original? If you did, then carefully check that the door is closed properly.

SOURCE: TV is 5 years old.

I assume you have a plasma TV. Usually this problem is a sign of the bearing failing in the color wheel. Depending on the TV, you can either replace the color wheel or you need to replace the entire assembly.

If you have posted additional comments giving your TV model, I'll try to find additional information.

SOURCE: I have replaced the bulb,

No - if it would have been the cooling fan the bulb would have been shut down. It's much more likely that the problem is in the power source - as it heats up a bad contact fails. You will gonna have to check every soldering and redo all the ones that look or feel suspicious.

Sir when replacing the bulb you should reset the lamp hour meter. 1. while on the standby mode press "mute" then the numbers 1,8 and 2 in succession, and press the power button.
2. wait until "loading factory" appears on your screen and the service menu is displayed with the lamp life hours. You will see a list of service options.
3. Scroll down to "option" and press "enter". next you will see "reset lamp" where you will press again the "enter" button. good day and best regards.

you need to get the original bulb from the company's authorised service dealer. these bulbs are of very specific type. & will work with same type only.

I have a 2 year old Sony Bravia KDS 50A3000 rear projection TV. We replaced the bulb about 2 months ago and now all of a sudden the bulb will go off and we loose the picture for 35 seconds, nothing happens...

well if you replace the lamp 2 months ago this could be a ballast issue go to your back of the TV and if you ear a weird mechanical noises like a tick, tick when you are down there this is the ballast.

Mitsubishi WD-62531 Replaced lamp 2 weeks ago. Red light flashing again. Same problem but the lamp is fine. Sound but no picture.

You have either a bad ballast (it powers the lamp) or a bad DMD board. Either one of those will result in a no lamp fire issue. Have a technician look at it...
