Projector has 1800 hours on bulb. Unit will turn on for about 60 seconds and then shut down. Lamp light turns red and indicates an overheating issue. How can this be overheating only after 60 seconds. Bulb works as picture is clear for the short time it is on.
My solution sounds dumb, I had the same issue. Took the lamp cover off the bottom. The screws were loose holding in the lamp. Maybe they heat and expand and eventually work their way out and the lamp doesn't make good contact. Just tightened mine up, the unit would power off after 45 minutes prior. Been on now for 5 hours, no trouble.

I have same problem just started work great until now
I have the same problem, but the unit is brand new. Bulb barely used. Sometimes it won't turn on at all, but will just have the amber flashing light.
I had the same issue last summer (6/2008). It was barely still under one year warranty. I sent it in, they repaired and I it got another 7 months out of it and now it's doing the same thing. Most likely a component is overheating, either send in for repair or replace.
Same issue with model vs14295. I built on what mrb2981 wrote. I took apart the unit but instead of tightening the screws (you really have to strip this to the bone to get to the heat sync) I removed them to check under the heat sync. I'm glad I did that because the Thermal Grease was totally gone. Hopped downstairs to the electronic store and picked up a huge syringe of it for under $5.00. Put a nice layer on but not too much so that it didn't gush out the sides. Then reassembled the unit. I've been using it for the past 2 or 3 hours without a hitch.
