Gentlemen,
I bought 3 months ago a printer model MP-510. It worked fine, until I replaced one of the ink tank ( black) with
a kit of refill ink from a local supplier. Now my printer
refused to print any thing ( including copies) and the screen reads " the following ink tank cannot be recognised "
The supplier said that my printer should work the same.
éééwhat can I do to get it going ?

Insert orignal canon black ink tank it will work .return that ink tank as the chip in that ink tank is not detected by the printer so you are facing this problem.

Smash printer with axe or sledgehammer. Grin maniacally. After researching on internet,go out & buy new printer that allows you to print till empty & refill again! Obviously not a Lexmark...
I had a similar issue with my 510. My printer would only print in b&w regardless of my settings in the printer setup. I uninstalled my printer driver and reinstalled a fresh one from disk. This cleared up my issue.
the older lexmark cartriges have a chip that will not let you refill but the newer ones don't have the chip. also if you wait until the cartrige is totally empty it will not work properly
There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.
I have about 6 canon printers with a 3in 1 using PG40 and CL41. I have never encountered the problem you have. I have looked into some other sites and noticed a number if CLI-8 cartridges being replaced by Canon. I think there are only 2 probable problem areas, he cartridge or the software you are using. I suggest you call up Canon and complain about this problem. Seems like you got the printer 6 months or so ago. You should able to get to do something like replace the printer or cartridges. I'm assuming that you don't refill or have your cartridges refilled so the contact points should not be messy w/ ink. You can try cleaning the contact points on the cartridges and printer. But I'd call Canon and explain to them the situation and see if they can solve your problem. Solve I'm implying is to replace your cartridges or printer. Let me know if this helps.
