Bulb Life Timer/Counter Access?

Hi: I got this TV from my neighbor for just a few hundred dollars. It's in like new condition inside and out. Great deal! I've been reading about monitoring the bulb life through a built in counter on various forums but cannot find how to do this in the manual. Can you please help? Thank you. Regards, Robert

SOURCE: Put new bulb in hitachi

hey there it sounds like the problem is coming from your ballast board, the ballast board is the power source to the lamp. with time this part starts to wear out and get weak your old lamp is already burning out there for it does not need that much voltage to turn on but the new lamp has not been worn out or used there for it needs the ballast to be working at 100%

hope this solution helps

SOURCE: my hitachi 50v720 bulb blew and the replacement doesn't fit

I have a 50V525E and I have the same problem....My bulb is suppose to be a LM500 and I received a P22 Phillips (And I did check their web site and that is the bulb they recommend), and like you said...The 4 little glass tabs will not allow the bulb to sit flat in the housing.....

I am waiting for the vendor to answer my inquiry...But I recommend to anyone ordering a bulb...Ask if it is Phillips, and if it is...stay away.

To reset the lamp timer, turn the TV on first. Now hold VOL DOWN on the TV and MUTE on the remote until a message appears on the screen about the lamp timer being reset. Make sure the remote is pointed toward the TV to receive the signal.

KDF46E2000 - Change Lamp Warning - Reset

Bulb is most likely OK. Original bulb in Sony TV is Philips, label on bulb usually says Philips. Sony don't make bulbs. Sony Cost is usually 1.5 times other sources. Many shopping cart operations sell condemned, reject or poor quality electronic service items because cost of return and fooling with them is excessive. This is obvious and widespread with convergence ICs and other parts.

Lamp timer needs reset. This is usually an automatic function. TV detects Increased lamp current from previous failed bulb or weak bulb condition and resets automatically. TV must be unplugged for lamp replacement for this to work. Occasionally it must be reset manually, as below:

1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a
second of each other:
DISPLAY Channel 5 Volume + POWER .1. Access Service Adjustment Mode and select the Service Menu that
contains the Category with the Adjustment Item you want to change.
2. To change the Category, press 2 or 5 on the Remote Commander.
Note: Pressing 2 or 5 only changes the categories within the
Service Menu displayed. To change a Category on one of the other
Service Menus, press the JUMP button until the correct Service
Menu is displayed.
3. To change the Adjustment Item, press 1 or 4 on the Remote
Commander.
4. To change the Data Value, press 3 or 6 on the Remote
Commander.
Note: To go back to the last saved Data Value, press 0 then ENT
on the Remote Commander to read the memory.
5. To save the changes, press MUTING then ENT to write into
memory.
6. To exit service mode, turn the power off by pressing POWER .
Wait 2 minutes before restarting the set to allow the fans to
completely shut down or the Service Menu will appear on the screen.

Mitsubishi HC 900 DLP Projection Lamp Shutdown.

Honestly I would try entering the 'Lamp timer reset' code again. Or the button sequence given to reset the lamp timer.
An issue that may be happening is that something may have happened to the lamp ballast power supply also.
Just a thought.
Blessings always,

Bluish image appearing on screens

It sounds like the projection lamp is beginning to show its age. How many hours of use does the unit have on the bulb? The bulb are typically rated for about 800-1600 hours of use before they go bad. The bluish image on the screen image is a typical tell-tale sign that the bulb is going to need replacing.

Most of your better projection units will have an internal time counter of the bulb life from the time the unit is first used or when a bulb is replaced. Check to see if your unit has this feature, if so it will show you on the screen display what is the total number of hours on the bulb and the estimated remaining hours of life.

Be aware that the replacement bulbs are NOT cheap and usually will cost you several hundred dollars, I have seen bulbs for professional projection units used for large convention/presentations have bulbs costing as much as $500.00 USD.

One other last thing to check is to clean the lens of the unit both inside and outside. To clean the inside, you will need to remove the bulb (be sure to wear a rubber glove as the oils from your skin will cause the lamp to blow, (causes a hot spot)). Then using a cleaning wipe, just as one used for cleaning microscopes or glasses, wipe the lenses. The discoloration might also being caused by dirt and oils on the lenses.

I hope this shed some light on your church's projection problem.

Lamp red light is on when tv is on and not flashing tv info says solid light is lamp life expired but tv is working fine is this a problem.

It's only a problem when you try and finance a new bulb ($400.00 for mine). But seriously, the only "problem" is that an older bulb exhibits much lower light levels and the picture has crappy color, brightness and contrast. Keep a coffe can around and put a few bucks in it everytime you watch it. when the bulb finally blows you'll have a couple hundred bucks in there towards a new one. (a little easier to handle)

Short life for a Sony LMP-150

The bulb replacement message is not triggered by bulb condition. It comes on after a given number of hours use. If you did not re-set the hours counter to zero when you replaced the lamp then you will get this message prematurely. Don't replace the lamp until it ceases to work correctly - colour balance wrong it it simply does not light.
