It indicates that the laptop battery is too low.
If you want to use the laptop without the charger, consider buying a battery.

The battery must have gone bad! if its three or more years old you need to get a new battery for the computer. Periodic conditioning of the battery from first use may prolong the battery life. Battery life is reduced by plugging computer with battery all the time.
Conditioning. Periodic full charge and full discharge practice is good for battery. Batteries are better charged when they are at less than 10% power and its better to charge them to 100%. Do not leave on electric power once they are fully charged.
I hope this helps in future but current battery may need replacement!

My ibm thinkpad from the year 2000 wont turn on. i have connected the adapter and put the battery. i press the button to turn it on but the laptop wont turn on

1st thing you need to do is to make sure the adapter is working.

check to see if any LED indicator lights up when you connect the charger.

if none of the indicators light up with the charger plugged in, you may need to consider replacing your charger/adapter.

however if the indicator come on, then it is most probably a problem with your power/on switch (at the least) or a problem with your motherboard (at the most)

IBM Thinkpad 2647 will not power on , i plug it in to charge and orange light flashes 5 times then stays solid orange . I can leave it plugged in for days and will not change , it will also not turn on...

This is a tricky problem, you need to troubleshoot this bit by bit - first take the memory out one stick at a time and try to turn it on each time, then try the hard drive. If it boots further with one of these things out then you know thats the problem. If it still doesnt boot after trying these components then you need a repair as it will be an onboard component.
My immediate guess would be the onboard power supply unit, unless your charger is broken and you can test with another charger to rule that out too.

Ibm thinkpad t43 backlight inverter issue

Did you say the the video output flickers on and off when you connect an external monitor to the video output. If the inverter is faulty this would not affect the video output and the external monitor would not flicker but if the external monitor flickers it would point to a video card problem.

Ibm thinkpad r51

check the battery is this new? if this is new then this is under warranty. if this is old you may check the connectivity. most batteries have an age life of 2 years. you need to replace this if you think this is already attained the 2 years long service
