Have Peavey sp4 cabinets. Am burning out high freq drivers like mad. Did not start until I wired in the xti 4000. usually happens when I get within two feet of back of speakers. Very shrill brief sound and high frequency drivers burn out. Also blows thermister on Peavey crossover and sometimes fuse.

I need a color coded wiring diagram for a peavey PV115 speaker cabinet.

Usually the colors you will find are red and black pair and yellow and white... USUALLY the red/blk pair go to the tweeter horn with red going to the + lead of the horn drivers. Usually the yellow/white pair go to the woofer with the white going to the + lead of the woofer in Peavey speakers... HOWEVER you never know if someone has rewired the cabinet so going by colors is NOT the best way to go... This should have the "soundgard" circuit in it and the lead that goes throught the lamp and resistor that is NOT connected to the inout jack is the TWEETER + lead. The pair that connects to the inout jack DIRECTELY is the woofer leads and the TIP connection of a 1/4 inch jack is the + woofer lead. Verifying these connections is the best method.

Crossover blow drivers. How can i get the part for thecrossover that has copper wire wraped on a piece of metal. What's it called? a coil or what. All i know is it keep the driver playing and keeps it from...

Hello iwelch1194:
The thing you are describing is called a choke or a ferrite crossover coil.
This site might have what your looking for:
That is there ferrite page. If you need something a little different just search their site. You will also need to know the COIL VALUE and wire size which should be labeled on your old coil in order to replace it with something compatible. Coils are rated in millihenrys (mH).

If this helped just click the thumbs up.

I have a new peavey sp4 speakers and blown up my HF, I NEED HELP OF HOW TO OPEN THE FRONT NET OF THE CABINETS SO THAT I CAN UNSCREW THE HORN?

This is based on MOST cabinets like this: First look for any small screws which are usually through the grille near the top and bottom that retain the grille. When those are removed, one has to pry the grille out of the grooves at the side by dishing the grill outward at the center so edges come inward. There often is a "U" shaped rubber strip along the edges that will need to be put back on before grille is dished and put back.

Note that SOME speakers have a fuse or a polyfuse to protect them from excessive current. If yours do not, consider puttin in polyfuses to protect them. They are available from Digikey.com.

Calculate the hold current based on the pwer rating and impedance. Take the square root of the rated power of the HF divided by the impedance and choose aa polyfuse that will hold that current and one that will standoff the peak voltage of your amps. Calculate that voltage as the square root of the max power of your amp divided by the LOWEST impedance allowed for the amp.

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?lang=en&site=US&WT.z_homepage_link=hp_go_button&KeyWords=polyfuse

Set the filter to search for "Radial" type package and find suitable rating in the list that comes up.

Where can I get peavey replacement parts for sp4 speakers? Need to replace the internal board.

The internal board is the crossover. Your best bet is to contact Peavey directly. Call them up and select the service department. You can purchase parts directly from them. Have both the model (SP4) and serial number. Because the series has been around for a while, there are slight differences in the crossovers (may not be the case for the SP4, bt was for the SP2 series). The serial number will incidate the "run" and insure that you get the proper parts.

Peavey impulse 1015 horn cuts in and out

If the horn cuts out after some usage ...then its probably the limiter lamp that is gone .... the limiter lamp is switched into circuit once the " polyswitch " gets hot .... so at first the horn works ...then when the limiter lamp is switched in ...nothing !
its just a standard 12volt car tail light lamp ...let me know if this helps
