i am trying to do same thing - i suggest connect ps3 via optical cable to hi fi red/ white cables via a optical/ rca adaptor, the ps3 is connected to tv via hdmi so play dvd via ps3 sound will play through hi fi - but remember dont need the yellow dvd cable from hifi dvd player to tv any more as you will be using the ps3 as a dvd player instead
ION has just released a turntable that connect via USB! You can now play your lp's on anything that accepts usb cables. It is available at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Also, there are many various turntables available that connect via RCA cable. Bet Buy and Circuit City both carry mdels that will hook to your unit via RCA cable. You will never find those connectors, as they come with the ribbon cable, which is long discontinued. Rather than that approach, take the easy route. Just cut the ribbon in any place that you need the extension, add in your new ribbon cable, and heat shrink each and ever wire.
