I have a Carrier model 42KPC019303. It turns off while running. The LED blinks five times, stops, and then blinks 5 times again in cycles. After a few minutes, it turns back on again and off again after a while. Normally if i set it at a temp of 26C it doesnt turn off. Sometimes it does. But normally any temp below 26C it shuts off, blinks 5 times. Stops. Blinks 5 times and repeats.

What I realised is that the coil temp sensor is located at the buttom of the evap coil. At that position it does sense the change it temp. I had checked another carrier (not the same model) and the coil sensor was located higher up. So I removed it and tied it up higher up on the coil. This is after I had swapped cicuit board, and all sensors. The higher up position allows it to sense a change in temp on the coil.

Why does my Carrier A/C, model42QG24-C turn off after 5 minutes, pause, then repeat this cycle again and again?

This is likely a cycling clutch. It cannot just keep going or everything would just freeze up. Modern systems run until they build enough pressure, then cycle off until that pressure depletes, then starts up again. This nets much lower energy cost.

Car systems do the same.

Sir, carrier model42QG24-C comeing to off after 5 mint and then on after some time it repeate this cycle again and again. The red led on pcb is blinking regulerly..

More than likely it is cycling on its low pressure control.. It is an automatic reset device but each time it cycles off, the TDR (time delay relay) keeps it from restarting for approximately 5 minutes.

A steady and rhythmic 'heartbeat' on the circuit board typically means 'normal' operation. If it flashes, stops, flashes, stops etc, it would be giving you a fault code telling you what is cycling it off. You have to count the flashes, slow or fast or a combination of slow and fast and look up the fault codes.

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 that has no picture. When I turn on the TV, the green Power/Standby LED light blinks for about 30 seconds, then turns red and blinks five times. The Power/Standby LED repeats...

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen A2 slightly.

Ffurnace not working. led flashed five times then off and repeat the five times. reset the unit by switching bkr off and back on. led is steady, but no ignition. do smell gas and can see gas meter respond...

If it's a hot surface ignition system I'd guess it has a bad ignitor from your clues. If however it's a spark ignition system I'd guess it has a bad ignition control.
