My navman n40i will not go pastbthe first loading screen, what can i do?

Try to reset the navman n40. resetting it usually solve this kind of freezing problems.

    You can do a general reset by pressing the turn on button for ten seconds.

    If this does not work do the following:

    Reinstall software on the computer
    Connect Navman to the computer
    Go to /my computer / mobile device / , then delete the Navman folder
    Go to program files and delete the Navman folder
    Disconnect and reset the navman by pressing the turn on button for 10 sec.
    Turn on the unit,
    Connect back the unit, and on the computer go to tools /reinstall soft on Navman

Navman N40i compatability with Vista
Solution to get GPS Navman N40I working with Windows Vista.

I solver the problem (most of it) by uninstalling the old activsynk witch was delivered with the manufactory CD. Then I downloaded from “http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx” Windows Mobile Device Center. After installing this software I connected my Navman N40I to my PC and waited to for the Mobile Device Center application to load. When it tried to gain partnership with my GPS I removed it. Voila, and the SmartST Desktop 2006 SE application was able to communicate with my GPS.

you have a small button on the side of your navman, an ON/OFF button! put it in the OFF state, leave it for a few minutes and then put it back ON and it should solve yourr problem
