Rice cooker directions are not clear--water? rice? and rice sticks

  • mzdamama Sep 28, 2008

I am using long grain rice? Maybve that is the problem? If I use the one cup mark in the plastic cup and fill the water line to one on the inside of the metal bowl--Its not cooked when it says its done--some one suggested to fill the water line to 1 cup before I wash and ad the rice to the cooker? Its better but the cooker spits water all over the counter (seems like it s too much water? but the rice is better but maybe a little to soggy??Someone suggested I add butter and it helped stop the rice from sticking so badly???

Spray the inside of the pot with cooking spray and then let the rice soak in the water for about 10 minutes before starting the cooking process. This should eliminate or at least minimize the sticky rice problem.

The rice will stick if there's not the right amount of water added.

The rice cooker should have numbers marked on the side of the pot. Those number correspond to the amount of water to be added for a given amount of rice. For instance, if you add 4 cups of rice, add water until it reaches the 4 mark.

How much brown rice to water? Thanks, OLinda

Add a little more water to brown rice than you would white. Rice cookers do not make a very good job of cooking brown rice and it often sticks to the base. Better to use only white rice in cookers

We accidentally threw out the directions with the box and are not sure how to prepare the rice and water to put in the rice cooker/

Wash the rice in a seive till water runs clear. Use a cup of rice to a cup of water. Or if you have measurement levels on the inside, fill water up to the number of cups of rice you have put in. Cup size is more like an oriental cup size than a regular teacup.
Hope this helps.

Directions

if you use the cup that came with the unit to measure the rice, it would be 5 cups of non-cooked rice whichwould make your 10 cups of rice when done. now the water would have to be 5" marking on the inner bowl.
