Husqvarna 128 LD Weedeater Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 11, 2011

I have a 2 yr old Husqvarna 128ld weedeater. All of a sudden it has started running very rough when cranked and will cut off when squeezing throttle. I have replaved the fuel filter, spark plug, air filter, cleaned spark arrestor plate (which was clean) and replaced primer bulb. Nothing has made a difference. Its hard to believe the carb may be out of adjustment as little as it has been used. Can anyone help me with something else I and check? Thanks

there is a kit you can buy to redue the carb .the gasket that acts as a fuel pump wears out.just aaaas in some lawn mowers

Most likely ethanol damaged fuel lines. Sounds like it is starving for fuel. Look inside tank at fuel lines....if they are "melted" they need replacement. Its also possible that your gaskets inside carb have met the same fate too.

More investigation and information required, possibly damaged piston rings or crank bearings.

SOURCE: craftsman 28cc gas weedeater gas line connections

The longest, and sometimes smaller in diameter of the two fuel lines, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. Leave enough slack in this line so that the filter that attaches to the end will rest comfortably at the bottom of the tank.

The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch). make sure that you get the right size fuel lines. The plastic coupling goes on the end of this line, inside the tank. This keeps the line from pulling out of the tank.

(HINT): When feeding the lines through the tank holes, cut the lines at an angle. They will feed much easier into the holes. You can than cut them off square, once you know that you have enough to work with.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Jim

Brand new Husqvarna 128LD will start and run well for 20 to 30 minutes then run rough and die if I don't run it at half choke. Idles fine but when I give it power it dies.

Its running too lean on the carb mixture, you need to richen up the H screw on the carb, if not marked it will the adjusting screw furthest away from the cylinder, this will increase fuel to the engine if turned out ( anti clockwise ) you will be to purchase an adjustment tool, this is because there is no slot in the screw, it has a spline so the tool has an internal spline to fit the adjuster, the are readily available on e bay, once you have the tool, unscrew the adjuster onlt 5 minutes on a clock face.

Rebuild the throttle housing to a 128ld

Not sure if you are asking about the throttle assembly or carb. Both of these are available as kits from Husqvarna and will save you a big headache trying to rebuild.

HUSQVARNA 128LD WILL START RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIE.

You need to adjust your idle screws. Start at 1 and a half turns out for High and Low then go from there.

I own a Husqvarna 128LD. My trimmer works on full choke, half choke, and when in the run position...it runs...but when the trigger is on balls to the wall throttle, it goes dead. What is my next move?

The next step is to richen the fuel mixture on the H screw on the carb, there is a special tool required to turn the adjuster screws because they have a splinr rather than a screw driver slot, the tool is part np. 530035560 unscrew tthe H screw 1/4 turn anti clockwise.
