first check the compressor amps and the condenser fan rotation are correct if ok check power come to the compressor without interuption (from control in the indoor unit)if the remote setting are ok correct voltage to the compressor may high pressure stop it or low pressure compressure overheat.and if this was repeated many time the best to change the compressor.

SOURCE: lg split system air conditioner

Try sutting off the power to both units. This may reset the unit. Check out the service manual at LG website www.lgusa.com. Go to their support page and put the model number in. Remove and replace the batteries in the remote. If there is a communication error, the inside unit will display 3 flashes. If all else fails, call LG at 1-800-243-0000. Good Luck!

SOURCE: heat controller mini-split air conditioner

Check each screw on your compressor to ground (compressor case). Should be very high resistance Then check the resistance across your teminals on the compressor to be sure it is not shorted. Then check the wiring to your capacitor (The big one). I ran across this just last week. The mechanic didnt have the capicator wired correctly. If it is brand new it will have a wiring schematic somewhere on it.
Dont leave the compressor on very long, but turn it on long enough to get a voltage reading across the terminals. I assume it should be 240 volts. If you have check all of this, they make a jump start gadget to start a stuck compressor. They sell it just about everywhere. Let me know how this comes out..

Compressor cuts out after 20 minutes then restarts after maybe 20 minutes

This is usually due to low limit or high limit cut off switches. Basically when it's low on refrigerant the unit cuts out to protect the compressor. Then after 20 minutes the pressure equalizes and the unit kick back on, or the opposite for the high limit switch.

My outdoor unit fan rotates slowly and compressor trips after 3/4 minutes

The compressor is probably tripping on high discharge pressure due to the slow fan rotation. That can be caused by a weak capacitor or the fan motor failing. The capacitor can be checked with a multimeter that has the capacitor check function. The capacitors are inexpensive but the fan motor will be another story. You should also check the voltage going to the fan motor.
