I just bought Model D-1660-2. I cannot make the second handset work. I have charged the battery for more than 20 hours. I set all the Handset setup modes as instructed in the manual. Works for the main handset. Second one rings, but I cannot get a dial tone nor make a call nor answer. The other party cannot hear me. What do I do?

?Doesn't work. What kind of answer is this? Cannot you be a bit more specific.

  • dismalriv585 Sep 10, 2011

Trying to reset it did not work. Should I just return the whole set-up and buy something more reliable?

  • dismalriv585 Sep 10, 2011

I tried to reset. It does not work. This I have tried over and over. Cannot someone be a bit more specific? Should I just return the whole set-up and purchase something else?

  • Unplug the power source of the BASE.
  • Unplug the phone line of the BASE.
  • Let it stay that way for 30 mins.

Please try to reset the second one, sometimes it will work by the power of reset, since you've set it up completely.

Thanks.

  • Anonymous Sep 10, 2011

I am sorry about that. I would agree as well on returning it to the manufacturer, because the fact that it is new, there should be no issue yet, since you have set it up completely, it should be working fine as just expected. I would suggest just to return it to the manufacturer, because I would say that the second headset would be manufacture defect.

    Thanks.

Hand set says connecting even before it is reset with new base.

This sounds like a registration problem, each 'old'
handset must be de-registered from its original
base and then registered to the 'new' base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

===============================
Good luck !!

I have a vetch mod# CS6114 I checked the base unit and it gets power to charge phone but I can't get a dial tone. I even hooked up to another line and still won't work.

This sounds like a registration problem, the
handset must be de-registered from wherever
it thinks it is and then registered to your base.

=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a cs6114 handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll from "Test Base" to "Test Handset", press [select]
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( III.) To register the cs6114 handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

NOTE 2: Some cs6114 bases do not have the "In Use"
lamp indicator. To register the handset simply park it
displaying "Not Registered" in the base cradle and wait
for the registration to occur. Pressing # as above may
be required, maybe not.

Good luck !!

I have purchased a SL82318 Handset. I have a SL82318 system, with all three original handsets working perfectly. This fourth handset displays: "Connecting..." and nothing else. According to...

*331734#Menu Select on the handset should de-register that handset from the old base, then you can register it to the base as per the manual (put it in the base and hold down the handset locator button for 4 seconds)

Registering handset

If all else fails, read the instructions.

"4. Place the handset in the base cradle. The charge/in use indicator turns on, verifying the battery is charging. The unit will take 20 seconds to register and verify its security code. READY shows in the handset’s display."

• If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.
No dial tone
• Check or repeat installation steps
• Make sure the base power cord is connected to a working electrical outlet.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit and the modular phone jack?
• Disconnect the base from the wall phone jack and connect another phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone on the second phone, the problem might be your wiring or local service.
• The handset might be out of range of the base. Move closer to the base.
• Make sure the battery is properly charged (for 16 hours).
• Ensure the battery pack is installed correctly.
• Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK/CALL BACK button? Did the in use indicator come on? The battery may need to be charged.

PLEASE REGISTER!!!!!!!!!!

You may need to "reset" the whole system1.gif. Do this by :
1 Unplug phone line, power to charger base, and remove the batteries.
2 Wait a couple of minutes.
3 Plug in batteries first, then phone line, and finally the power cord.

Then try to set the phones in the basecharger to register.

Handset won't charge

Hi,

Not using the handset for several months  would have allowed corrosion to develop on the charging contacts.  You have to use cotton buds and a strong solvent to clean the charging contacts.

Alternately, it may be that the battery is already dead and no longer would accept a charge.  These are plug-in types and are replaceable.  Incidentally, it is also possible that the corrosion developed on the battery connector contacts themselves.

Indication of corrosion would be dull colored contacts with bits of flakes - clean to make shiny again; the connector corrosion would be wet powdery greenish substance on the wires or connector from the battery.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Only one handset can be registered at a time. When you register additional handset to the base, the handset ID will be assigned. 1) Before registering the extra handset, the battery pack must be charged for 15-20 hours. 2) Place the extra handset in the main base unit to begin registration. 3) While the handset is registering, Handset Registering will appear in the LCD.
