Hi I usually answer questions on this forum in the lcd section but i picked up this Hitachi 53SBX59B and the interior components seem in good condition. I get a image on the screen IE vid 1 for about 10 seconds then the picture collapses to a series of horizontal wave lines across the screen(red blue green) I am thinking the high voltage p/s may be bad, all the main projection tubes seem to be working but very low intensity at thier bases. I am used to seeing more light than they are giving off. Magic focus just causes the waves to flashe on and off and after the magic focus for the convergence is done it just has wavy horizontal colors across the screen again all green led's are lit inside on the second board and I have air cleaned the inside out so the dust is gone. no evidence of bad or blown caps
let me know what you think and if i can do a little testing on output of the high voltage unit tell me how to check it and i will get back to you with numbers
thanks
I would check the main power supply for a bad filter cap. That could cause the wavy lines. The different colors are probably a problem with the convergence circuit. Try resoldering the convergence ICs first. If that does not resolve it replace the ICs. Also check for low valued resistors in that same circuit or pico fuses.
