Try resetting the clock. If it is digital, push the clock button and then the number buttons untill you have the proper time displayed...then push the clock button again. If your clock and timer are manual, try pushing in the clock lever and turning it 1/4 turn. If this works it would indicate that your timer has a start and finish time and that the oven is not working because the clock has rotated around to the finish time.

Miele M 625 EG Microwave Oven

A malfunctioning control panel or membrane can cause erratic behavior in your microwave oven. If the control panel is not registering the start command correctly, it may interrupt the cooking cycle. Try cleaning your membrane and control panel with a soft and damp cloth to remove the dust.
If cleaning doesn't resolve this issue, try resetting the microwave oven by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in.
The microwave may not generate the required heat to cook the food properly if the magnetron or high voltage capacitor is defective. This could lead to the timer counting down without any heating action.

How can I set the timer and still use the oven to cook food?

Use kitchen timer not cooking timer, it's written on your oven timer pad. I did that before

Maytag microwave cook delay - first minute on timer no heating, then works fine

Not a feature I've heard of.

I would do a hard reset by unplugging the oven for a minute or two, setting the clock, then trying again.

If it still does this, I would contact Maytag customer service at the number in the owner's manual.

Maytag microwave suddenly stopped working, overheated, nothing was cooking.

It is more than likely the magnetron is fried, to replace fuse! unplug microwave oven, remove top, "several screws" look to the right to the keypad control board, look down to a printed circuit board, clipped fuse should be near by, pop it out and replace with same current rating, assemble before testing, "lethal voltages present"

Only 1 function works at a time on mco16

That actually sounds like correct operation in that you cannot use the timer while it's cooking.

Assuming yours is model number is MCO160S, you can download your owner's manual here if you don't have it.

Page 19 tells you how to replace the cooktop lights and the cavity light.
