In my case, there was dust in the switches that sense the cover movement.

  1. Close the sliding door and wait until the lens is drown inside (timeout).
  2. Open the screws that secure the front cover.
  3. Remove the sliding door covering the lens. There is no trick (hidden screws etc) so just use the force. The door is mounted by two-sided tape and adhesive.
  4. Remove the front cover. This is also mounted by two-sided tape / adhesive in the center, so you have to be a bit brave.
  5. The sliding door rails and the movement sensors are now visible. Clean all dirt.
  6. Try the door functionality.
  7. Mount the front cover after the lens works as it should. Close the screws.
  8. Mount the sliding door.

This is just another Lens Error Konica style. You can try the following but please be gentle....... Put a bit of force on the focusing lens whilst pushing the sliding door to help the lens back into the camera casing. That's the reason the sliding mechanism won't work. The lense is stuck and if you force it back in, the sliding mechanism will work again. The only other solution is that you sent their cameras, under warranty, back to, NOT Konica-Minolta, but now SONY. The service people will probably claim you dropped the camera and will refuse to honor the warranty. So take it into your own hands..literally! Good luck. By the way I have one of these little cameras and it suffered from the dreaded Sony CCD saga. It was replaced out of warranty for free. It's a darned nice camera except when it MF00C's up :-) BMW

Apprentice has it spot on. Having almost thrown the camera away, I got the lens to retract sufficiently to close the front then ,on opening it again I used two small screwdrivers on the lens front to persuade the lens to come out again fully. After which the camera works. The surrouding metal disc and a further disc came off during this operation, but are easily relocated. Unfortunately I have since lost the outside metal disc - the camera still functions - but if anyone has a spare disc due to de-commissioning, then please contact me!

Just solved this problem on my Dimage G530. An earlier time the lens (inner part) was cocked to one side after a small drop. Pulling it back straight, out of the outer part, fixed it and the lens closed.

Then just this past trip, the lens was not retracting with the MF00C error and the lens looked straight. It had opened in a pocket and gotten bumped. I had even taken the case off but that did not offer any insight into fixing the problem. (They certainly cram a lot into the case). I was about to give up and just buy a new camera or was going to inquire at vistek to see how much it would cost to have it looked at this Saturday because I really like the camera. Anyway, to make a long story short. I decided to pull hard on the inner part to pull it out - basically try to cock it to one side then the other. The lens popped out to it normal position and now everything works fine. So it appears that if bumped the lens goes to a lock position to prevent any damage to the drive mechanism.

Hope this helps someone else with this problem.

My mju ii cover will not close easily and it seems to be causing problems when the lens retracts how can this be fixed?

Hi

Check there is no dust or dirt that is stopping the lens mechanism retracting the lens properly (which is then interfering with the cover closing). You should also try and check if the cover is aligned properly. If it has been dropped or knocked it can sometimes move them out of position and this can then stop them closing properly.

We hope this helps to get the camera working properly once more.

Canon Si5 Lens Error message. Have tried suggestions on line

Welcome to FixYa.

There where wo reasons why do you receive a "lens error".

1. CF card slot cover or battery cover opened with camera on
2 . CF card slot cover or battery cover opened while camera was recording to CF card

In this case you have to ensure that CF card cover and battery cover is closed while camera is turn on.

You also need to be careful not to block the camera lens when turning on. Lens will have issues while retracting if your hands or even small thing that will block the lens to retrack while in motion of turning on.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Minolta dimage g400 camera...cannot get the lens to close

Your problem is likely due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may require professional repair.

System error

This eroor usually comes due to faulty sliding mechanism.Put a bit of force on the focussing lense to push it back into camera casing. That's the reason the sliding mechanism won't work. The lense is stuck and if you force it back in, the sliding mechanism will work again. Not responsible if your camera screws up, so try at your own risk.

Or else try out this method

Pull the lens fully out and then it will work.It will be bit tricky to get the lens out. Use your nail to "grab" between the outer glass and the little plastic cover.

Hope this will work for others too.

System Error

I had the same problem. It was because the lens had just begun to retract and then jammed. I tried pushing back it in to no avail. I was considering it was time for a new camara anyway. Hoping to get a little more life out of it, with nothing to lose I was about to take it apart to see if I could clean out any obstruction as other posts had reccommended. Before I did that, I let my Mr. Goodwrench cousin take a look at it. Instead of trying to force the lens back in, he pulled it out. Apparently the slight play in the lens allowed him to do so and whatever was jamming the lens from retracting must have fallen out. Suddenly, the lens retracted and the camara is working fine. So before you throw the camara away or take it apart, try pulling out on the lens housing. You may also have to move it slightly back and forth while pulling out to get whatever is jamming the lens to move out and away releasing the lens to retract again.

Error system MFOOC

try these:-
  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

Lens will not retract

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture on display, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacing batteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restarting camera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try an easy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them) while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the mode selector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair from manufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.

Kodak Z700

Hi,

Tentative solution:
I had the identical problem. I went as far as disassembling the camera ... not recommended.

Instead of fussing with the lens cover, I pressed on the lens assembly (gently), the lens retracted and the lens cover closed.

My camera works now. It will be my last Kodak.

Good Luck,
Mike
