We found a vizio LCD tv outside so we brought it in in the hopes that we found a good tv for free. We didn't find a power cord but the one from our computer fits it. And the light on the front comes up orange. We don't get any sound or picture. Do we need to buy a real power cord for it? Or could it be something else inside the tv?

I think unless it has a power converter...the straight plug should work...think about it...they didnt have to pay to get rid of it.

SOURCE: no picture or sound, light comes on in the front and have to unplug tv to turn it off.

I had this exact problem on my Vizio 47" HDTV. I removed the speakers and all the screws on the back cover. Took the cover off and located the fuses on the largest circuit board. The are in the upper right hand corner of the board. There are 3 of them in a row labeled LF 1.5, LF 3.0 and LF 3.0. The are white in color with copper ends. I took a volt meter and measured continuity across all fuses individually and found the LF 1.5 to be blown. The guy at the electronics store sold me a barrel 1.5A fuse and told me to soldier it across the top of the blown fuse. It took an extra set of hands but the TV works perfectly.

SOURCE: I need help with disassembly of Vizio GV42L LCD TV

remove all the screws and start at the bottom and push in the tabs, and work around the edges, being careful not to pry too hard, the cover has clips all around the tv. after the bottom is free and one of the corners the cover will kind of pop off if you use the palm of your hand and lightly tap as you apply sum upward pressure.

SOURCE: The LCD screen is dark with no sound or picture when turned on.

I had the same problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound.

HOW I FIXED MINE:Look through the back vents for a white light to make sure the backlight still works. I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine. I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

For me the part number was either (depending on the vendor) : 0171 2272 2174 or it was 3632 0212 0150. Check your circuit and see if any of those numbers match up.

My Vizio VX37L HDTV won't turn on. Was watching it one day & it turned off by itself. Replaced power supply with new one with no luck. Orange light comes on but will not turn white.

reset the tv with the tv off, but plugged in hold down the soarce botton on the tv for 5 seconds it should click on and work. if not then there may be curcuit board issues. i found the same tv on the side of the road as somewone was throwing it out, it was leaning aganst their trash can. i brought it home. plugged it in and it went on and inediatly went to the orange vizio light. i rest it and it's been perfect ever since is my comoute monitor now...good luck i hope that fixes it for you..

LCD TV lines

The shop is in business to make money so no free fix--Someone with a good eye who opens the set may see where the water went and then Google the model for a list of boards......several dealers (not Vizio) stock and sell all or most boards in the newer sets.

Hi, i am having problems with my TV since day

Hello sir Ibsen,

The first thing I suggest is to check the power cord and its connection if the light indicator on the front of TV won't turn on..Used multimeter or volt meter (range to AC) to measure the voltage..If no voltage, replace the power cord because the cord have internal wire break or open connection that can't visually check..

If the power cord is good, the possible problem is power supply board inside..
2_21_2012_1_52_43_pm.jpg
It cost $89.95 to this site http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871qih001a-power-supply-unit.htm
But before you decided to replace the power supply board please try to reset or reconnect all connectors on all boards inside specially on power supply unit..

Also I remind you when the TV already open the warranty will void...

If you more queries and clarification please feel free to reply to this tread..

Hope this solution will be helpful..Thanks for using fixya marketplace and choosing my service..

Dead set (no indication lights coming on when I push the power button.

Hi Gwendolyn,

First of all thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
I'm assuming here that you're TV is a Vizio L32 HDTV.
My initial advice is to ensure that the AC source(outlet) is live. Please plug the unit to a known working outlet, if you are using a surge protector, directly plug the power cord of the TV to the outlet to confirm that the AC source is not the issue here.
If you've confirmed that the AC source is not the problem, then the fault is inside the TV and most likely the power supply. Most of the TV with a dead set symptoms that I've encountered is a power supply issue but of course needs to be confirm.

If your unit is not under warranty period (if so, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free, opening the rear cover will void the warranty), open the back cover, check the internal fuse of the power supply board, this is near where the AC power cord's directly connected. Check its continuity using the multimeter/ohmmeter, if you found it open, replaced it with a new same current rating that is printed on its body itself. Sometimes internal fuse fail due to voltage surge/flactuation, aging, etc, replacing with new one resolve the issue, however if the fuse blow again, this is an indication of more serious problem on the power supply board, it needs to replaced the entire board.
If the fuse is intact, you have to measure the output voltage of it through connector J1 (pin 9,10,11). You should be getting 5 Volts. If there's no voltage at these pin, you're power supply board is dead, replaced the entire board. If the 5 volts is present, replaced the main board.
I've provided you a links for the power supply board and mainboard below.

No sound coming from my Vizio Model #E320VL HDTV. Tried everything I can think of. I have Direct TV and it just stopped working one day. Any advice?

We just had the same problem with our tv, we switched tv's and it still didn't work. We reset our att uverse box, and the sound works. I don't know how direct TV works, but the problem may lie there instead of your TV

Hello,

on this link you can download the manual for your TV.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Vizio-L32-TVs-manual/id/512dj084/t/2/

The first download is the full user manual, and the second is quickstart - possibly the second is the better option since quickstarts contain the instructions that 90 percent of users really need.

Hope I helped, thanks for using FixYa!

Turned my sanyo dp42410 off last nignt and now it wont turn on no led light on he front nothing

Good day!

The problem of your TV is on the power supply.
Please follow this procedure for D.I.Y troubleshooting.
  1. Remove all screws at the back.Open the cover.
  2. Power ON the TV.Check the input voltage of power supply from the cord.If supply form the power cord replace it.
  3. If you have voltage supply from the cord.Check output voltage form the power supply board and for sure you have no supply on it because the indicator didn't lights up.
  4. Check your power supply board such as fuse if busted, power transistor and diodes if shorted,open/change value resistor and leak/bulge on top capacitor.
  5. If you found that replace it and try to power it on again. Then check the output voltage such as 5vdc for the system board,12vdc for the sounds and 24vdc for the inverter.
  6. If you got that 3 supplies your TV is OK.
Note:If this procedure is not fix your problem it means the power supply got a major trouble and not for D.I.Y..I suggest to you as a technician to buy a new power supply board or give to the qualified technician.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you very much and good luck.
