I have just purchased a new colour cartridge. I loaded it in the printer and I keep getting an alignment error.....I've done everything it tells me but keep getting the message. When it prints a test print the colours looks fine but the black is faded and and stripey. The black cartridge is not empty (half full) but hasn't been used in a while.....could this be the issue? When I have tried printing black and white and colour images but the print looks awful. Help please.

Yes, the black cartridge could very well be the issue. In fact, I think it's likely.

This might sound really silly, but when you removed the protective tape over the cartridge, did it all come off? I had this problem once, and the tape had separated, the coloured part had come off leaving a clear film over the print head. Once I peeled that off, all was well. Hope that helps. Aileen xx

My Lexmark x8350 has suddenly come up with Cartridge Error, Error #1203. I've followed all the remove cartridge, power off, power on, reinstall steps, but no good. I think it's the colour...

Hi Alan I think it is the cartridge that is causing your issue but I cant promise that it is.I can tell you from many years experience it very rarely is an issue with the printer breaking it is 99% of the time inferior consumables causing printers to fail, and sometimes wrecking printers so even when the customer does use good consumables it is too late and the damage is done, but we can't be sure of anything unless we start with basics and get 100% brand new Original Equipment Manufacturers carts (OEM) and stick them in. (no I don't work for Lexmark;)

The black ink on my Brother DCP-130C won't print and it's a brand new ink cartridge. I thought it was a defected cartridge so I bought another one, same thing. The other 3 colours print ok though....

I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

New ink cartridge load test run prints lines on paper then tells me to take tape off cartridge which i've already done ???????

1. I would shut the printer down and pull the cartridge back out.
2. Find a Number 2 pencil with a good eraser on it.
3. Pull the Ink Cartridge back out, and use the pencil eraser to clean off all of the copper contacts that are behind the cartridge.
4. Replace the cartridge, and run a head clean process.
5. Align the heads and test the printing.

That should fix your issue.

Cannot get black cartridge to print. I've checked everything...cleaned printer head.

Press the Resume/Cancel button.
- If paper is being fed at error occurrence,
the error is indicated after the paper is
ejected.
- If the error occurs, the print head
alignment values are not changed.
- After exit from the error by the
Resume/Cancel button, the automatic
print head alignment will not be re-done

Canon pixma mp530 not printing colour. The cartridges are new, when I print an alignment, no colour prints, only the black and white. I've performed a clean, deep clean, print head alignment, nozzle...

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

My lexmark x 5650 keeps saying alignment error, try to remove tape. I've done this multiple times, tried cleaning the cartridge, and it keeps saying alignment problem. ive unplugged and plugged back in...

alignment error usually means that one cartridge is not printing, or paper tray is empty.
try removing both cartridges then stamp each printhead on some folded tissue paper. You should get one solid strip of black ink with the black cart and 3 colour strips with the colour cart.
If you don't...there is your problem.

good luck
