Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AI7&fMTYPE=Socket 478&pPRODINFO=Manual

The fault could be the cpu, wrong type of ram, a faulty ram module
or a fault in the mainboard.
Check all the settings in the manual and the bios aswell.

Here is a list of beep codes:
Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards

  1. No beep at all - this means your motherboard is dead, either due to a defective or underpowered power supply, poorly seated CPU or RAM, or a dead-on-arrival board
  2. One beep - board is working fine
  3. One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU
  4. 1 short(Beep) System booting is normally
  5. 2 short(Beep) CMOS setting error
  6. 1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
  7. 1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
  8. 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
  9. 1 long - 9 short(Beep) ROM Error
  10. Long(Beep) continuous DRAM isn't inserted correctly
  11. Short(Beep) continuous POWER supply has a problem
  12. A two-tone siren, generally caused by overheating or out of specification voltages
  13. Four beeps then machine shuts down. This is because this version of the BIOS will shut down your machine if no fan tachometer signal is detected on the fan header. Make sure you attach a fan to the FAN1 or FAN4 header or clear CMOS to reset to default (no checking).

Abit kn8 ultra mb no post one beep

Trying your peripherals one at the time is the way to find your problem, Memory first - one beep is good, If your mb has onboard video use it first. if not check the settings in the BIOS may be a shared memory that is not set right. Make sure your memory is computable ck one stick at the time.

Mother Board Display Problem

Hi, i think its a vga card or onboard card, if not make sure that you ram is tight and if u can get a dust blower and blow it, and just make sure that before u close it, u quiz in tight all the attached components on the mother board, if it refuse, then get another graphics card and try a gain. For starts u can use a very cheap Pci vga card and or AGP card. The other thing that i want u to take not of is try some friends monitor and see if it works if it fails then try the first option. However usually intel has a beep code, take not of the beep code and tell us how many times the it beep.
Hope u are help.
Cheers

One long beep.

  1. Leave the memory slot closest to the processor empty and try booting again. Award bios 1 long beep is memory error as the first 64K of the ram stick closest to th processor is accessed first. since you have tried different ram in different locations, let's rule out the board.
  2. If that doesn't solve anything try a different power supply. Sometimes (Phoenix) gives a long beep when system board or power supply are bad.
  3. Now if nothing else has worked it is probably tour mother board.

Motherboard ABIT KN8

i dont know about the red light, but all main boards these days have a built in protection if the cpu fan quits. check the cpu fan connection, ensure that it and the heat sink are dust free. if still no go. update  your question with exact info..e.g. does absolutely nothing.. how many beeps you hear..how long b 4 it dies.. final note: be careful what you touch.. static can harm more that most think and the oil from touching can retain heat.
