My speaker jack isn't working - Dell Audio Players & Recorders

If you don't plan on using the headphones - take the cover off and there may be a cable to the headphone jack board that can be unplugged. This will disable the headphone jack from sending a bad signal to the micro. If you want to be able to use the headphone, then the jack is going to have to be replaced.

Could be that your audio jack has material stuck in it or possibly the jack is bad.

check in your control panel and go to systems.
Then go to hardware and under that go to Device Manager
In there see if there are any exclamation marks in your sound hardware,
conflicts and such.
If there are none then go to Sound Controls in Audio Devices and make sure the audio isn't muted in the windows program
Use this to do an audio test of your speakers.
If that isn't working but it should be check your wires to see if there is a break or if it is plugged into the the green colored jack for external speakers.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2570hd is a monitor with speakers; it isn't the computer itself. I'll assume that you are dealing with a computer connected to the monitor and not a set-top box. Make sure that Mute is not enabled on the computer. There should be an icon on the lower right hand side of a Windows desktop. If the mute is enabled, it will have a red circle with a diagonal line through it. Left click on the icon to remove the mute (change the volume or click on the mute icon). Test the monitor's speakers by connecting it to another device with known good audio output.

Next how are you connecting the monitor to the computer (VGA, DVI or HDMI)? If you are using VGA or DVI (including DVI to HDMI), you need to connect an audio patch cable (3.5 mm) between the speaker (green port on the back of a sound card) or headphone jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor. The audio input jack is between the DVI and VGA ports. You can test the output of the speaker jack on the computer with regular computer speakers. Plug in the power cord (or USB cable) for powered speakers. If the free-standing speakers work, check the volume setting on the monitor with the +/- buttons to the right of the menu button. Do not press menu first, though. If that doesn't solve the problem, continue using the separate speakers. (Unless the monitor is still under warranty, it usually isn't worth taking apart a monitor to replace the speakers. You may be able find replacement parts online.)

If you are using an HDMI cable, check the output audio setting to see if the HDMI audio is available. For Windows, click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound (Windows 7). Then click on Manage Audio Devices under Sound. In the Playback tab, check what available audio devices you have. Make the HDMI the default device by right-clicking on it and selecting Make this the default device. (Other versions of Windows will a slightly different route to this panel.) You may need to restart the computer to get the audio signal on the HDMI cable after setting this. Note: not all video cards/computers support HDMI audio. If you don't see HDMI listed in the Playback devices, connect an audio patch cable as with a VGA or DVI cable, described above. Use stand-alone speakers if the monitor's speakers are bad.

(I have had the speakers fail in monitors; <$30 separate speakers are an adequate replacement for those built into a flat panel monitor.)

Look at your display. Does it show that you are using speakers A or B? Or is it showing nothing? If it isn't showing what speakers you are using then your Headphone Jack is defective. These are very easy to change out.

Hello.

check all the jacks on the two speakers, and also check the cable connecting the two speakers. Is there any damage on it? if yes, that might be the problem, which is probably not expensive to fix. Also, if you have a warranty for the speakers just take them to the vendor and you'll most likely get a new pair of speakers couple of days later.

If nothing that i wrote before helped, it might be the the one speaker that isn't working died which would mean you need new ones. :(

Follow these steps: Go to the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices under the Playback tab, select "Speakers" or any playback device listed. double click the device or click Properties. Go to Levels tab. Under the "Speakers" and "PC Speaker" area, adjust the volume level to its maximum. Then apply changes.
If the above instructions wont work, try this out:
Check if your speaker is detected when you plug it in.
If it isn't detected then either your sound drive has a problem/missing or maybe somethings wrong with your computer's headphone/speaker jack.
If detected, set it as your default device.

Most TV's nowadays, have audio out RCA jacks that will allow you to send audio from the TV, to an alternate source. These speakers do come with an adapter that allows you to hook up RCA red and white audio cable, and plug them into the adapter, which goes from the RCA jack to a 1/8 in female headphone style jack. You would then need to get a 1/8 in audio cable that has two male ends, and plug that into the back of your sub woofer in the front speakers port. But this really isn't going to give you very good sound quality being it's not giving you true 5.1 surround sound, even with the matrix feature enabled!

At the 5.1 and 7.1 sound cards,you have more that 1 socket for speakers.If the jack isn`t plugged into the green one,the speakers will not work in all PC application

If the receiver doesn't have a function specifically named PHONO, yes. Very few AVR's have phono preamps. They're not expensive. I'd check eBay.
