Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

Belkin - Username: Leave the field blank Password: Leave the field blank Default IP address is: 192.168.2.1

Buffalo - Username: root Password: Leave the field blank Default IP address is: 192.168.11.1

D-Link - Username: admin Password: Leave the field blank Default IP address is: 192.168.0.1

Encore - Username: admin Password: admin Default IP address 192.168.1.1

Linksys - Username: admin Password: admin Default IP address 192.168.1.1

NetGear - Username: admin Password: password Default IP address will be: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

TP-Link - Username: admin Password: admin Default IP address 192.168.1.1

TrendNet - Username: admin Password: admin Default IP address 192.168.10.1

Zhone - Username: admin Password: admin Default IP address 192.168.1.1

Zyxel - Username: admin Password: 1234 Default IP address 192.168.10.1

I had to purchase a new router because I ruined the one my system was connected to. I reconnected the new one the same as the old but now my laptop will not connect, it says it has no internet...
Is the laptop connecting wirelessly? If so, you need to open the network connection, search for access point, and then connect to the new wireless. If the laptop is connecting via Ethernet cable, then the router is not configured to work with your provider. Consult the manual for the new router and call your providers tech support for help configuring the new router.

I have the same problem they asked i cant connect to the internet i have a apple clamshell laptop with an airport card but when i go to the internet it says server not found?
When you encounter a server not found error, I've found it helpful to temporarily connect directly again with an ethernet cable. Then, open a browser window. Go up to the address line an delete what's there. The type in 192.168.1.1 ans see if the router says hi. If it does, get weird and tuen of the puter. Then unplug the router.

Sit down and have a beer

Then, reconnect the router to its power source

Make sure you have disconnected the ethernet cable from the router to your puter.

Then just get back online. Remember, even if I missed it this time I won't next time. If i missed something this time, forgive me. It sucks to ask ,cause I'm kinda smart, but I'm tired.

IN the case of the Mac what I have had to do in the past was shut down the other laptops and computers, delete the printer program from the Mac and start over. During the setup of the printer make sure nothing is connected to the printer. Only connect what you are instructed to at the appropriate time. It will eventually ask you how you are going to connect to the printer from that particular printer, answer ethernet cable and attach the ethernat cable to the printer from your router, make sure your laptop is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Always set your computer up to the printer vis a hard line, then onve it is done you can swap over to a wireless setup. Once the setup is complete and a test print is accomplished bia ethernet cable, then disconnect the cable from the laptop to the router. Once you are connected to the network wirelessly, attempt another test page, you have already set the printer up at this point to be your default printing device so the laptop will find the printer on the network and initiate it. You may have to watch close for a pop up window asking to allow the connection or access to the program. Maybe think about dropping the firewall temporarily until the connection is secure.

You have this in the Mac Laptops category, but it's not a Mac. This laptop is running Linux.

The Elonex ONEt has wireless Internet connectivity. That means you can use a wireless router in your home in order to use it online. If you already have one, the system should be able to set itself up to use that connection on its own when you open a web browser. The web browser on your system is BonEcho/Firefox.

Another option is to run a Cat5e, also called an Ethernet cable, line from a router (or from your cable modem or DSL modem) directly to the laptop, since your laptop also has an ethernet port. This looks like a regular phone jack, but it's a little bigger.

From the question above I think you are saying that when you unplug your Ethernet cable from your Internet connection out of your E-BOX and try to use it in your laptop, it doesn't work. If this is correct, then it's probably that your ISP only allows for 1x active address to be used at any one time. To overcome the problem you'll need to also power recycle your Internet modem to clear out the MAC address of the X-BOX once you've unplugged it and before you make the laptop connection. You would have to do this each time you wanted to swap between the devices.
Alternatively, get yourself a Router to sit in between the Modem and end devices and then have an additional permanent cable / 2nd physical port to use.

Can this be used with a MAC?
Any router will work, TCP/IP is a network standard, definately double check the cables. Your DSL modem is usually 192.168.254.254. and the router is usually 192.168.1.1. Check your documentation for the default IP. Once you know it type it in to the broswer in your Mac. Before doing so connect with an ethernet cable, purchase a new one if necessary. Connect from the <--> labeled port on the mac, or ethernet port. These wires are not like phone lines, they have 8 wires instead of 4/6. The router usually has ports on the back labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, and WAN. the 1-4 ports are LAN and that is also labeled on there. Plug the mac into port 1 and any other computers in after you get internet. once the physical connection is recognized. Go to your browser in the mac and proceed. if you get a web based router configuration page your router is working, then make the WAN connection to the ethernet port on the back of the dsl mode. Be sure your cables are good. Also go to your control panel and make sure your internet is enabled in your network section.

Connecting my router
Ok, so the ethernet port on your DSL or Cable modem has to be connected to the WAN port on the router first and foremost. Then I would suggest that you connect the ethernet port on the laptop to port 1 on the router, and attempt to log in that way. Bring up your browser (Internet Exploder, Netscape, etc.) and type 192.168.1.1 (if that doesn't work try 192.168.0.1, Linksys switches it up) in the adress bar... and ensure that you can get in that way. Then try surfing the web to see if it connects correctly... although you may need to speak to your Internet Service Provider to ensure that they are allowing your MAC Address to connect to their Network... the one under the WAN settings, NOT the LAN settings. It should look like this... MAC Address: 00:01:81:52:3f:99
