White horiontal lines in all color printing, but not in black. Did cleaning and deep cleaning repeatedly, no improvement at all. Canon tech at website suggested turn it in for repair in a city 50 miles away. I'd rather find a way to fix it myself, if possible.

  • gjackso6 Sep 07, 2011

I thoroughly disagree. There is not a leak; there is a failure to print fully on the page. There is no excess ink anywhere in the machine, and no stray marks anywhere on the paper.

This response seems shallow and of little value to me.
I don't wish to continue with this inquiry.
I will resolve my question elsewhere.

I definitely do not accept this solution.

The white horizontal lines are the blocked injet nozzels.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

  • Anonymous Sep 07, 2011

This problem could be faulty electronics that are not firing the inkjet nozzels.
Most of the time it is usually blocked inkjet nozzels.

There is some leakage of color cartridge. You have to open the printer as much as you can and clean different areas or parts where the leak is occurring hoping the color ink delivery system is not damaged. Try your best if it does not sort out the problem then getting the printer serviced could be the best and most efficient alternative.

I have a Canon PIXMA MP250, and it's printing black and faded lines alternatively. (one line black, one line faded black...), sometimes involve blue too.. Anyone can help?

First, are you running low on those ink colors? If not, possibly print cartridges need cleaning. If printer has separate print heads, they made need cleaning.
Lastly, print head(s) may need replacement.

My Printer prints a Colored Ink. But I type as a black Font Color. Then Black Ink Has full?? pls help me

Hi Carl Montero,
Your issue may be attributed to two possible points of failure. 1.) The Nozzle is clogged, 2.) the ink is already dry inside. You can try to clean the nozzle by doing the following steps. If it does not work, try to replace the cartridge with a new one.
FINE Cartridge Cleaning
1 Press [Menu] repeatedly until appears. 2 Use [ ] or [ ] to select . 3 Press [OK]. 1 Press [Maintenance] repeatedly until appears. 2 Press [Black] or [Color].
FINE Cartridge Deep Cleaning
1 Press [Menu] repeatedly until appears. 2 Use [ ] or [ ] to select . 3 Press [OK]. 1 Press [Maintenance] repeatedly until appears. 2 Press [Black] or [Color].
Note If deep FINE Cartridge cleaning does not improve the print quality, contact a Canon service representative.

Canon ip 1980 printer does not print the paragraph. it prints nothing, its like printing invisible letters or uses white ink.

sounds like you are out of ink or the cartridge(s) need cleaning. Go to "printer properties" then "maintenance" and click "cleaning" or "deep cleaning". Then print a "nozzle check" to see if it worked. If it improves, repeat until 100%. If not, get a new cartridge.

good luck with it

I have a Canon Pixma MP270 and I can only print in colour both the black and colour lights are lit up on the printer

f print quality does not improve by the standard cleaning of the Print Head, clean the Print Head deeply. Cleaning the Print Head deeply consumes more ink than the standard cleaning of the Print Head, so clean the Print Head deeply only when necessary.
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.

2. Clean the Print Head deeply. (1) Press the g0022565.png (Maintenance) button repeatedly until y appears. g0054776.png
(2) Press the Black or Color button.
The machine starts cleaning the Print Head deeply. Do not perform any other operations until the machine completes the deep cleaning of the Print Head. This takes about 2 minutes.

3. Check the print head condition.

When the deep cleaning is completed, the LED returns to the copy standby mode. To check the print head condition, print the nozzle check pattern.

See " Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern".

If the problem is not resolved, turn off the power and clean the Print Head deeply again after 24 hours.
If the problem is still not resolved, replace the FINE Cartridge with a new one.

See " Replacing FINE Cartridges".
If the problem is still not resolved after replacing the FINE Cartridge, contact the service center.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles.

NOTE If the remaining ink level is low, the nozzle check pattern will not be printed correctly. Replace the FINE Cartridge whose ink is low.
See " Replacing FINE Cartridges".

You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper

1. Make sure that the power is turned on.

2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray.

3. Open the Paper Output Tray gently, and open the Output Tray Extension.

4. Print the nozzle check pattern.

(1) Press the g0020617.png (Maintenance) button repeatedly until A appears. g0054754.png
(2) Press the Black or Color button.

The nozzle check pattern will be printed.

5. Examine the nozzle check pattern.
See Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern.

Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern

Examine the nozzle check pattern, and clean the Print Head if necessary.

1. Check if there are missing lines in the pattern (1) or horizontal white streaks in the pattern (2). g0054755.png (1) Check if lines are missing in this pattern. If yes, the cleaning is required.
See " Cleaning the Print Head".

g0020623.png
(A) Good
(B) Bad (lines are missing)

(2) Check if horizontal white streaks are present in this pattern. If yes, the cleaning is required.
See " Cleaning the Print Head".

Black ink cartridge holder not working , can not print with black ink cartridge holder, when i use the colored ink holder printer works ok

The problem you are describing is with the black ( BC-10 ) print head and not with the printer.

1. Check your black ink tank and be sure it is not dry.

2. Run the printer through one DEEP cleaning cycle and see if that improves the print.

If your black ink tank is full, and the deep cleaning cycle produces no improvement, you will need to replace the BC-10 print head.

Installed all new ink cartridges and now poor printing results

Dear louis,
You have done right thing by cleaning the print head. If the print head still clogged after repeatedly cleaning, It seems that the print head need to be replace with new one. Make it sure by printing nozzle check pattern. Is it good or not?.

HP 7110 still won't print in color

Your post "...it prints very faint horizontal lines in color..." is indicative that indeed your color printheads are clogged and would need repetitive deep head cleaning. This is of course would require that you keep on cleaning until such time as the faint color lines have turned to legible print.

Printer update

Print Head Cleaning / Head Refreshing If the printed nozzle check pattern is broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed, clean the print head. NOTE:
a. Cleaning the print head consumes a small amount of ink. Cleaning too often reduces the amount of ink in the ink tanks.

b. Print head cleaning is performed when you connect the power cord. Your machine may perform print head cleaning periodically to avoid clogging.

  2. Press <Menu> repeatedly until <USER DATA> appears.
