HP laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you don't need to use a disc to restore it to factory default. The hotkey for the recovery is the F10 key. After you press the power button, you need to simultaneously press the F10 key to start system recovery. If this one won't work and gave you like an "I/O Error" or "Error 0x000000E" or something similar then that means that the HDD is already defective and needs replacement and you need to order the recovery discs from HP at 1-800-474-6836. If you're still under warranty, they'll replace the HDD and give the Recovery Discs to you for free.

Good luck.

SOURCE: On start up goes in a continuous restart cycle

There is usually a hot key you can press during boot up to start recovery (F11 is typical) This will guide you through the recovery process. I would first check all of your cables going to your hard drive, and also the one going from the hard drive to the motherboard. See if that helps. Best of luck to you!

Emachines screen says no bootable device insert boot disk. I have no boot disk

This error indicates that the system is not able to find a boot-able device to load the Operating System. It could be something as simple as a disconnected hard drive, or it could even be a corrupt hard drive.

You can check if the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS. The key to enter BIOS in E-machines systems are Tab, Del or F2.

If the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS, it could be a faulty hard disk. You can try booting from the recovery partition by pressing Alt+F10 when starting up the computer. If you're able to get into the Recovery Partition, you can try a recovery, but you might lose all your data. If you're not even able to get into the Recovery Partition, you'll need to get the Windows disc for installing the Operating System again.

I HAVE TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE A665 AND I TRY RECOVERY BUT STOP ON 3RD RECOVERY DISC WITH THIS ERROR 10-FA12-045D HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

This error code with Toshiba usually indicates a bad hard drive, bad memory, or bad recovery discs. Download this drive fitness test HERE. It is an ISO image that you can dowload on another computer, burn the image to disc, and run it on your laptop to test your hard drive (bootable disk). You can download memtest 86 HERE in ISO form to test your system memory (bootable disk). I think you will find your answer with one of these tools.

I have the same problem the toshiba recovery disk i get error message 10f8060017.its a toshiba A105-2194 win xp media edition. i have tried everything wiped the disk to all 0's. Used a win xp original disc...

You have tried all possible solutions and troubleshooting.

My Suggestion is to check the Warranty of the Hard Disk and get it replaced. this possible shows a mismatch between the Laptop and hard drive.

Error : 10-FC12-0570 when i try to reinstall with the cds

Error 10-FC12-0570 on Toshiba satellite This error message means that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive.
The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.

Solution:

Try copying the second disc using another system. If it's impossible: order for a new disc. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.

Try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem, is or is not, with the hard drive.

The best way would be to load the Windonws Vista discs, format the pc and reinstall.
(Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft). Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. That disc will not restore the OS: run diagnostics on the HDD; once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

I am coming up with error 10-fc12-0570 on the toshiba satellite a215-s7422 i used the both recovery disk and this was the error code

The error message is telling you that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive. The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.

but usually error 10-FC12-0570 is pertaining to a bad HDD or memory

First, try copying the second disc using another system. If you can't copy it, order replacements from Toshiba Customer Assistance: 1-800-457-7777. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.
You can try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem is or is not with the hard drive. But since the system is under warranty, you're going to have to arrange to have it repaired anyhow, so it may not be worth the effort to verify whether it's the hard drive or CD/DVD drive. It's probably not the CD/DVD drive since you got all the way through the first disc. Contact a Premier (not regular) ASP for service from here: http://pcrepair.toshiba.com

The best way would be to load the Win Vista discs n format the pc...and reinstall...iam telling this because u have a tried the recovery disk as well....

I know most users will not have the Vista CD with you but the Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft just google...

Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. Since that disc will not restore the OS all it does it lets u run diagnostics on ur HDD and allows u to install the OS. Once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

thank you
have a nice day

Error Loading Operating System

Do you still have the original recovery disc for the PC? If so, put that into the disc drive then boot the computer. It can help you either save the installed operating system or create a new one if there is a serious problem.

This could also be due to a hard disk drive failure, in which case you'd be needing to get a new hard disk. Most of the time however, just a file allocation table messes up during a power down, or some other random problem happened and just caused a simple error on the drive. I'd definitely find that recovery disc. If nothing else, you can use google to search for recovery boot disks that you can download and burn to a CD using a different computer. They can help as well.
