I am using my new brother CS-60001 sewing machine for the first time and I can't stop the bobbin thread from tangling. I feel the machine is threaded correctly, the bobbin thread is tightly wound and the bobbin has been placed in its "spot" correctly. What can I do to stop the tangling? BTW, the machine is on straight stitch 00 and the tension is set to 4. I have tried adjusting the tension, but the bobbin thread still tangles. Thank you!

Hi. You "feel" that the machine is threaded correctly? You should probably completely pull the thread out and start over, making certain that it is threaded correctly. Once that is done, double check to make sure the thread is pulled all the way into the tension discs. Make sure also that you have lowered the presser foot. Is the bobbin inserted in it's case correctly? Every aspect is critical to proper function. You may also want to revue your manual.

The upper thread is NOT threaded correctly. Put your tension dial back to where it should be and re-thread the upper thread correctly, Voila the machine will work.

Then, thread the upper thread properly, and continue the operation.

I'm guessing it is because the tension is not just right, the bobbin might not be the right size, the thread type top and Botton might not be the same, or you just might need put in a new needle the right size.

It could be a mechanical problem but before you do more first check your UPPER tension. If the upper thread tension is too loose and the bobbin tension is tight you can get looping on the underside of the stitch. So pull on the upper thread and feel if there's tension there. You can try to increase the upper tension and see if that helps.

My machine is suddenly locking up and the thread is getting tangled underneath the fabric.

Check the bobbin tension and that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder.

What kind of thread are you trying to use? Is it a decent fresh thread? If, it is old, throw it out and buy some fresh quality thread. Usually, cheap thread is the problem.

Ensure that you have routed the bobbin thread properly. Also, if the bobbin case is not installed properly it will give you this problem. Ensure that the protrusion is touching the spring on the body of the machine.

E6 error on CS-100, thread underneath all knotted and tangled, makes grinding sounds.

Your bobbin is not wound correctly. Check and see if your bobbin thread is wound to loose or unbalanced.

Can't get Bobbin to wind properly

Verify that your thread path is correct when winding the bobbin. It has a distinctive path including a tensioner that helps your thread wind smoothly. Do not use a bobbin that is not wound smoothly because (as you already know) it could possibly break needles and damage the machine.
