All it does is the evap fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge section and returns through the bottom air vent,so if there's ice there most likely one of the doors was left open, check the freezer for frozen water droplets on packages or on the walls and shelves of the machine,if you don't see that open the freezer door,if you don't hear the fan blowing you could have a bad evap fan motor.if the fan is blowing in the freezer from the bottom remove the second draw or bin and put your hand on the back inside wall of the freezer,if there's frost or like snow on the back wall you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, defrost heater, timer or board depending on what model you have,if the fan is blowing and you don't see any problems that i talked about you could have a bad damper,on some machines there's a damper door that opens and closes to let cold air into the fridge section,if it's bad it won't open and no cold air can blow in from the freezer,if you think the door was left open, remove anything that's in the way,in the freezer side and the fridge side, shut the machine down or unplug it and with a hair dryer melt out the ice, don't keep the heat in one place for to long, you can melt the vent if it's plastic or styrofoam, after you think it's melted out start the machine and put your hand up in the left hand corner in the fridge section and see if you can feel any cold air blowing in,there could be ice up there too, next time send the model number so i can look up your model,on a side by side you'll find the tag on the right hand side wall in the fridge up near the ceiling or on the ceiling near the light.hope this helps,if you have another fridge you could move the food and just shut the fridge down with the doors open and let it melt out on it's own overnight.good luck

The refrigerator part does not get cold. The

to possible reason.

1. Under charge, your refrigerant gas is not enough to accumulate or produce ice, reason possible leak along the pipe line all the way to the back near the compressor (signs: oily part)

cause: Vibration or use of sharp hard object in removing frozen food or ice

2. Lost Compression (Motor compressor) failure to produce enough pressure to accumulate ice.

cause:un stable power distribution or flactuatuion of electric current
or old age of the compressor

Freezer is icing up. Unit is about 2 yrs old

You need to check out the back of the freezer. At the current status, it may be locked with ice. Have it defrosted or just have it melted away. Clean the coils and the entire unit. Either the drains were blocked by food debris or dirt causing water to accumulate and ice to form or the thermistor has been iced or is faulty or too much ice accumulated in the unit's coils.

Freezer is too cold, ice crystals. Refriderator

I'm not sure which one you have, but try this: Look for the area where the air passes from the freezer to the refrigerator side, in the wall somewhere between them. Make sure that there isn't something blocking the passage. This is a good place to start.

Refrigerator and freezer not cooling/freeding

Possibly a defrost circuit problem -

1) Bad defrost thermostat
2) Bad defrost heater
3) Bad defrost timer
4) Failed evaporator fan motor.

Look for frost accumulated inside the louvers at the back panel, top and bottom. If you see it, remove food from freezer and put in ice chest. Take out shelves, get hair dryer and warm the backside of the freezer, directing air down the louvers. Then leave to sit for 4-6 hours with the freezer door open. Put towels in the bottom of the freezer to catch any melted ice.
After period of time, plug unit back in and power the unit back up. Once you know it's cooling, empty ice chests back into freezer.

If there is a problem in any of the above components, then it will show up in 3-4 weeks witht he same problem again.

Freezer not getting cold enough

I think your system has a leak and has lost the refrigerant charge.
The only way to check is by accessing the sealed system. Most systems are covered for five years on the compressor. Contact the place of purchase and give them your indications for your problem.
