One of the best was to keeping your guitar in tune, is to also string it correctly and use new strings . Make sure the first winding of a new string around the tuner post goes over the exposed tip of the new string. The rest of the windings go under the exposed tip of the string. This will keep the string clamped firmly in place. Use 4-5 turns around the post for unwound strings, 2-3 for wound strings, in a downward spiral towards the bottom of the post as shown in the photo.-Tom, 30yr player.

Every instrument I've owned from uke to banjo to guitar is basically the same:
- slack off the old string. Cutting them is NOT a good idea when under tension.
- Once slack it's OK to cut off the curly part that is wound around the pegs..
- If you push the old string towards the tailpiece it will either slide through or unhook.
- Install the new string when each old one is removed that way you don't change the stresses on the neck.

Check the neck to body attachment. There may be a problem there, especially if it has been strained in the past. The fact that the strings were so high when you got this would indicate there MAY be a problem with the neck attachment or the body where it attaches. Word of caution: Investigate how repairs are done on the instrument before attempting a fix. Using wrong materials can permanently disable an instrument. Banjos DO go out of tune easily, depending on how they are played. Another thing to remember is that strings are within about 10% of breaking when in tune on stringed instruments.

Look up Luthiers in your phone book. There are a couple in Seattle.. one on Capitol hill.

Normally a Sitar has seven strings plus some sympathetic strings underneath... the word Sitar means Seven.

Sounds like your truss rod needs to be adjusted. This should only be done by a professional. Take your guitar to a shop or guitar store that offers a service like this.

How to Change Strings on a Dean Vendetta Guitar

Dean Vendetta is a company that makes a wide range of electric guitars. These guitars are used by famous musicians and bands such as Alice in Chains and Megadeath. If you own a Dean Vendetta guitar, you will need to change the strings periodically in order to keep your guitar sounding bright and crisp. Without changing the strings, your instrument will sound dull due to dirt and oil build-up on the strings.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* Dean Vendetta guitar
* String winder
* Guitar strings
* Electronic tuner
* Wire cutters


Locate the high E string. This is the string that is highest and thinnest and closest to the ground when you play the guitar.

Loosen the high E string by turning its tuning key counterclockwise. Use a string winder for this if you have one. Pull the string off of the tuning peg and out through the bridge.

Insert a new high E string through the hole in the bridge, up the neck, to the head of the guitar.

Thread the string through the hole in the tuning key so that about two inches extends beyond the hole.

Hold the string at the top end of the neck in one hand as you turn the tuning key clockwise with the other hand. A string winder makes this task much easier.

Continue to wind the string until it tightens to pitch. Use an electronic tuner to check the pitch.

Clip off the excess string with wire cutters.

Repeat these steps to install the B, G, D, A, and low E strings.

Expect to re-tune often for the first few hours after installing the new strings, as they tend to stretch quite a bit at first.

Hello, what a great violin to own, I am jealous. Each string on your violin has a pickup sensor under it. So, what you have are 4 sensors (one for each string) and the signals are then fed into your violin's electronics and mixed there to provide a wonderful rich sound. The sensor under the D string has a problem. I would look there first and in the electronics package last. The best advice I can offer is this, I also am a musician and play violin and 12 string ovation guitar. I have worked on both my instruments, unless you are very skilled in your knowledge of electronics and the delicate work on the sensors on your violin, I would take it to a craftsman (person) that has the skills to change out the sensor. Sometimes it can be a bad solder connection in the electronics, especially with the vibrations that an instrument causes, again, this would be for someone extremely skilled in instrument repair.
