Hi there
you can try doing this and it should work and solve the problem for you

  1. Press Menu button
  2. togle across from REC Mode to setup
  3. togle down three times from camera to setup 1
  4. togle across into sub menu
  5. togle down from four times to Initialize
  6. togle across again to the sub-menu
  7. togle up from cancel to OK
  8. press center button to accept the OK choice
  9. Screen changes and so press okay again
  10. It should restart the camera
  11. Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
  12. togle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function.
  13. If it is still not working do not worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is generally a software error message and not a hardware malfunction.

Canon pc1251 won't take picture with flash on. it will if i turn off flash

Check if your camera is on automatic. Then f there is too much light it won't work. To use a flash for fill in, you have to be on a scene mode. Check the manual. If the camera has a flashing light, indicating the flash won't work, you have a serious problem.

My rebel t1i eos 500 built in flash won't pop up

Hi, I have to Canon Rebel t1i and I had the same problem (built in flash not working). I tried a number of remedies I found on forums etc but none worked. I then tried this. In the external flash housing is a metal sprung plate which surrounds the five circular pins (one big, four small at the rear). If you get a small straight headed screwdriver and lift the front of this plate and at the same time pull it back towards you it will come out altogether.
I then removed the four small screws being careful not to drop them and took off the mount for the external flash and then tried the flash it opened straight away. I then cleaned all the area of the mount and the two plates and replaced them all ensuring I fitted them exactly as before. I then checked the camera again and presto working fine. I hope this helps everyone with the problem.

How do i get the flashed turned on

First, check to make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Slide the switch away from the flower toward the mountain to take it out of macro mode. The flash won't fire in macro mode.

Then, if the flash still doesn't fire, take a look at the flash mode. Press the up-arrow button to bring up the flash menu. If it's currently set in the lightning-bolt-in-a-circle-with-a-slash-through-it symbol, you've got the flash turned off. Set it to the lightning-bolt-and-"A" for automatic flash or the lightning-bolt for forced flash.

If the flash still doesn't fire, then it's broken.

My camera is several years old. The flash stopped working. I replaced the batteries. Any ideas?

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't take a picture when the shutter button is pressed, or with an inoperative flash. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

My Nikon Coolpix s230 flash won't work. It just blinks red in the lower right hand corner. I've tried all the settings and they all won't flash.

If there is a problem with the flash itself or the mainboard connection to the flash it will not charge. If the flash won't charge then it won't go off when you take a picture. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the flash with a good used one and see if that fixes it. If not, then you need to replace the mainboard. Good used parts can usually be found online for cheap; that auction website doesn't pay me to type their name, so I don't, sorry. Hope this helps!

My Pentax Optio M90's Flash has stopped working.. it doesn't matter if I have selected the flash to be on or off it still won't work. Even when setting are set at auto it still won't work...

Hi kerritm,

This indicated that it's time you need to replace your flash , therefore you can get it done via a service center,

The camera's flash has a certain life and you can't expect it to be ok for many years together ,

In unfortunate cases , it stops working due to hard ware failure.

Therefore , Please get the flash replaced and you would be able to use it.

Hope this helps..:)

A red lightning arrow keeps flashing on the screen and the camera isn't doin anything, what can the problem be?

Hi.

A red flashing lightening bolt can mean different things on different camera's. The most common are that you are too far away from the object you want to take a picture of. That the flash on the camera needs to be turned off and that the flash itself is charging up and won't allow a picture to be taken.

Try turning the flash off and see if it will let you take a picture.

Regards.

Flash not working

First, be aware that the flash only works in still mode, not in video mode.
Second, check the macro/far switch on the left end of the camera. The flash won't fire if this switch is in the macro position (flower icon).

My Rebel T1i's built in flash stopped working after I used a 580EX external flash on it. It won't even show up on the LCD screen.

Really? the best solution available is to take the top of your camera off?
i don't think so.
Here's a very simple solution I found to get the flash to pop up without destroying your camera.

the person suggests using a fingernail. (s)he must have long fingernails. I had to use a piece of paper folded in half. Swipe the paper from back to front, as in, from the eyepiece side towards the lens side.

My powershot G9 built in flash is not working

There is a switch on the hot shoe to detect the external flash. When you use an external flash, the switch will be pressed down, then the unit will bypass the internal flash and won’t let it fire. If the little switch gets stuck somehow, you won’t get your internal flash on.
Check this switch on the hot shoe (either on the left side or the right side), blow some compressed air then plug/unplug an external flash several times. Hopefully you can get it back
