Printer won't print color

My Epson Stylus CX4600 no longer prints any color other than black. Tried: cleaning heads, changing ink cartridges, even though it registered as having ink in the old ones.

My grandma gave me her used Epson Stylus CX4600, but didn't print well. I bought new ink cartridges and installed them and it still only prints in black and white. I've cleaned the head several times and still nothing.

If this solution doesn't fix the problem, or you're printing a graph, you may have a printer that can override color printing. If your printer has this property:

Right-click the Start menu and select Settings.
Go to Devices and select Printers & Scanners on the left.
Select the name of your printer in the list and click Manage.
    Choose Printer properties.
Check whether your printer has a noncolor option, and make sure that it isn't selected.

I hope these steps will be helpful!

When you change the ink cartridges you are NOT changing the print head. The print head is in the carrier. If the print head has become clogged or worn then usually it needs to be replaced. Unfortunately it us probably cheaper to buy a new printer.

If you're certain that it's not a clogged head then you could get a new head and snap it in yourself. You can try cleaning the contacts with an alcohol pad before forking out the $50 odd dollars it costs for a new head. There are also options in the various printer programs that set your printing jobs to monochrome, won't hurt to check that. Good luck

SOURCE: My Epson Stylus NX 400 is not printing.

no it cannot. Those multi-colored cartridge system requires that you put in every single color, AND ensure that they are not empty before they will print. Even if all you want is a black and white copy.

My epson stylus cx6000 has stopped printing black. I've cleaned the print head, changed the cartridge and it still won't print black. What else can I do?

Be sure you are using genuine epson ink. Epson printers are "smart" and will not allow generic ink to work properly. Even after you replace a generic with a genuine it may take several print outs and alignments to get it to print again.

I just installed a new black ink but it doesn't print black, only printed colors. I thought the ink was a defect so I changed another new ink but it is still not printing. Now, the color stopped working as...

your print heads might be clogged. clean it the hardware way. not the software way. to do this, simply buy a print head cleaning solution for Epson Printers. now pull out all your print cartridges and put a small drop of cleaning solution to the pin-like plastics in the base where your heads are seated. drop and drop cleaning solution to dilute clogs. you can use syringe to sip out the solution from the area. after this hardware cleaning, do a software cleaning through performing a cleaning print heads in the epson tools under maintenance tab

Epson Tylus CX4600 ink light

If any ink cartridge is empty, you won't be able to print until you replace the empty cartridge. Leave any empty cartridge installed in the device until you have obtained a replacement.

The print heads will clog up in a week or two. So you also won't be able to print until you clean the print heads.

This is a utility to manage your ink. Gives an accurate count of how many ink shots are left in each cartridge. The printer told me I need a new magenta but this program says I have 13% left. It also has separate routines for cleaning the black and color (unfortunately not individual cartridges)

Epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://websites.uk-plc.net/UK_Inkjet_Cartridges_PLUS/products/Print_Head_Cleaner.htm
Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

I replaced both ink cartridges for the printer, won' print.

Please follow the procedure your printer has which forces it printer to clean the print heads.
I have experience of other epson stylus models.  I have previously spoken to epson about this exact problem.  Repeating the head cleaning process a minimum 5 times cleared the problem.
Running head clean multiple times in succession builds up pressure in the print heads - causing (usually new) cartridges to work correctly.
kind regards

Epson Stylus Printer CX4600

Hi,

I don't know if this will work on an Epson, but it does on Cannon. The pads on the cartridges or the ink jets in the printer head may be cloged with dry ink. Get some Q-tips and rubbing alcohol (water is a poor substitute). Take out the ink cartridges and touch the pad on the bottom with a Q-tip (one for each color). If there is color the cartridge pad is OK. Take a fresh Q-tip dip it in rubbing alcohol and GENTLY rub the little holes on the bottom of the plastic box the cartridges go in. Thse are the print head jets. You should see color. You may need to clean it a couple of times if the ink has dried down into the jets. It is OK to have the Q-tip pretty wet, but not dripping.

Hope this helps
