Thomson 27LCDB03B Hello Sir, Based on the following symptoms please suggest:- 1. No backlight and LCD dark. 2. Tune to TV station in TV mode, got sound and volume can control but no display. 3. Connect to PC & sound card, got sound, no display. 4. Opened back cover and measured for DC volt, 12V, +/- 16V & 5Vs all got. 5. Upon connecting the power adapter & switching ON, briefly the backlight comes ON then OFF. I guess this is normal since the 21" LCD TV i got (Thomson) also does the same upon powering ON the switch. Please request if you need further info. Thank you.

    Hei Jaime,

The service manual does not seems to be the one for the 27LCDB03B model that I have. For instance there are 2 connectors J1 & J2 if I am not mistaken to the inverter board.Furthermore there are 2 fans connected to the main board.

Please send me the correct manual. Thank you.

    Dear Jaime867,

Try to obtain the Thomson 30LCDB03B service manual. The unit I have have 2 connectors from the PFC/DC+DC/AUDIO POWER BD to the inverter bd. Furthermore the disassembly/assembly procedures totally cannot be used for the 27" model.

If all the voltages measure normal, the failure could be in the LCD's inverter board. I've checked the schematic and it seems like the 16 volts could be a bit higher, check the electrolytic capacitors filtering the voltage for the inverter board.

Thomson 27lcdb03b picture upside down

I would suspect main board more than one you replaced--not likely to get help as Thompson is not known for that--possible firmware upgrade seems likely.

On every set I have seen with upside down/inverted or reversed screen etc it has been either a firmware issue or a main board.

Hello dear sir i have an old samsung labtop

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, this is the most likely case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
