I can hear the music of songs but not the voice: the music is louder than the voice.
Vocals are almost always in the center of the sound field. This means the same amount of vocal sound is going to both headsets. If you are hearing lots of music and not much vocal, I suspect the ground lead of your headphones (or the MP3 player headphone jack) has an open circuit. This can cause the vocals to cancel out, but you will still hear the music. This can be made even worse if your MP3 player has a "stereo wide" or "stereo enhance" setting that's turned on. "Stereo wide" plays some games with signal phase to create an illusion of more left-to-right separation, but if there is a connection problem with your phones or speakers, it will sound really odd.
Found your question due to having the exact problem you described. New firmware, format... loaded new music, same problem. While switching to yet another set of headphones the sound got better momentarily. The case doesn't appear loose, but squeeze right next to the lcd and lyra name and the audio was fixed. For some reason the audio was mechanical sounding and the voice was almost non-existant unless pressure was placed on the player where described. I tightened the screw in the retaining strap hole and the one under the USB connector flap and all is well for now. Good Luck!!!!
Even i have the same problem tried each n everything than too same problem,
Tried 3 to 4 Headphone's with all types of model 3rings 2rings types same problem,
Tried listening to music, playin games than too same problem,
Formatted PC than too same problem.

My original set of headphones work but they got blown out somehow and i have then used about 4 sets of headphones and the voice is still low...Please tell me how to fix it.
I had teh same problem, and discovered the headphones weren't plugged in all the way.
I had the same problem either look at the sound settings , change the head phones or buy a new mp3
The headphones are probally cheap, I had the same problem with mine but I fixed it.
What's probably happened is that the cord of the headphones is faulty and it is not picking up the vocal range.
It could also mean that your headphones are improperly built or plugged in...make sure they are all the way plugged in, and if that doesn't work, do exactly as windman says because he is a MASTER at fixya, this is just me favorite hobby...helping people.
Hi it can be a bad fault or just bad headphones first look in the SOUND settings if all the TRABLE, MID & BASS are fully up especially the MID which is the voice range... then cange the headphones and if nothing works reset, format and copy all the songs again good luck
I've had that problem when I first got my MP3 Player. I figured out 2 days later I didn't plug the headphones in right. Funny thing, I almost returned it. If thats not it change the settings like the other guy said. Hope it works out

ya its the same i can hear all the music but the words are really really low nd kind of crackly.i've changed the earphones and everything but it still the same
Thats my problem right now with the microphoto - Muted voices and distorted music. Kinda like an echo chamber. Reformatted the drive, new headphones - the drive seems to be fine - because I transferred a few songs to my office computer and they are fine. I think its something in the circuitry. Creative wants $135 to fix it - along with $25 to mail it. I can get a Nano for less.

The lead vocals are minimal. Backup vocals comes thru loud and clear. I have a set of Bose Computer MusicMonitor.
