Maytag Neptune MDG300aww Gas Dryer Heats On and Off

Maytag Neptune gas Clothes Dryer
Model MDG3000AWW

Problem:
No or limited heat during drying cycle

Description:
Drum turns freely.
Plenty of air flow out of dryer exhaust with vent disconnected and connected, as every nook and cranny was cleaned and vaccumed.

When first turning on dryer, Igniter glows orange/red gas ignites and burns for 30 seconds or so then flame shuts off. With in 30 to 60 seconds cycle is repeated.

Sometimes on initial start up, this cycle will take place once, sometimes twice. Then symptoms change. After the one or two ignitions and burns, the igniter will glow as before but the gas valve won’t open and therefore there is no burn. Then the igniter shuts off for a minute or so. It will keep this on / off cycle up. When the gas valve fails to open and while the igniter is glowing I hear a rattle that seems to be coming from the gas valve coils.

Thanks for your help.

If you have the same problem as listed in my post please replace the gas valve coils and you will be quite relieved of a most taxing part time heat problem!!

My Maytag Neptune Model MDG3000AWW will heat initially but not maintain high heat. About 5 years ago, the Thermistor Sensor was replaced. Any help would be appreciated.

if it heats for the first 15 to 30 minutes and then no heat you have bad gas coils, when the coils are starting to fail they will work like normal until they heat up and then they fail, they will work again when they cool down and then fail again when heated up.unplug the dryer and remove the two phillips screws that hold the door on and remove the door.also remove the two screws opposite the door screws and grab the right and left part of the frame and pull it forwards to remove it.you'll see the gas valve and the two coils are on top of it.just remove the two phillips screws, remove the cover and change out the coils,do them one at a time because they are different, one has three prongs and the other has two.while you have the dryer open vac it out,if you have a shop vac you can blow the lint from the back to the front and vac it out, also blow off the motor, alot of lint gets stuck in the motor.clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and if you have a long vent line, remove it from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, you have an open flame in there and i've seen them catch fire, also if you do this once a year you'll never have any problems with the dryer and your clothes will dry on time, let me know how you make out and good luck.

Maytag Neptune MDG 5500 AWQ heats sporatically

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.

Maytag gas dryer runs, doesn't dry

Check in the hole where the screen goes for blockage. Many times debries falls in there when removing screen. It cant make it out of the vent so it builds up and clogs the vent.
