I can't find any documentation on how to remove the primary mirror for cleaning. I'm a newb and don't want to mess anything up. Thanks, Bob

Yep, only when you use the document feeder? If so, lift the document feeder lid, get a clean lint-free cloth and some glass cleaner. Apply some of the cleaner to the cloth then, clean the small of the two glass areas. That is the only section that reads documents fed through the document feeder! Run a blank sheet of paper through the document feeder first before cleaning and make a copy. Take the copy and, if there is a line (or lines)on the copy, place it on the larger document glass face up.Follow the line to the smaller glass. The dot of debris will usually be there. If you don't see anything wrong, clean the glass anyway. Run another blank sheet through the document feeder. Check that copy. If the lines are gone...Viola! you have solved the problem. It it has not and you've cleaned it more than once, the debris is on the mirrors under the glass and a technician will need to come out, remove the glass and carefully clean the optics/mirrors.

Don't do it! There is a lot of controversy over cleaning mirrors. Check out http://www.astronomyforum.net/forum.php or http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat if you do a search or post on either site you will have many informed people give you your options but unless squirrels have made a nest the normal advice is don't do it. Try using a cotton swab with a drop of lens cleaning liquid.

Probably lubricant out-gassing which can collect than drip. Your choices are to contact Celestron service or do it yourself. DON"T PANIC! It is not that hard if you are brave.
1. Use a piece of masking tape on the corrector to the side of the housing.slice it carefully where they meet. This will insure correct alignment with the primary when you put it back together. (Correctors are sorted then oriented to,(as the name says) correct the primary.
2. Remove the corrector plate. Mark any shim locations with a marker on the outside of the corrector plate (remove after re-installation)
3. Make a solution of 50% distilled water and 50% isopropyl alcohol. (97% pure or better- I use 99% pure alcohol) 1 drop of dish detergent may need to be added,depends on the stain.
4. Rinse the secondary until grease is gone. Do not rub mixture on mirror, just keep rinsing.
5. Rinse with pure distilled water,gently stand corrector up to dry.
6. Assemble the scope. Use the same water/alcohol mixture to clean up the outside of the corrector. Dampen cotton balls and wipe with VERY light pressure.Wipe once, throw the cotton ball out and use a fresh one. Do not make the cotton balls too wet, you don't want moisture to get under the corrector.
7. If the stain is really tough, acetone may be used without damage to the mirror surface.
8. Use surgical gloves to avoid fingerprints.
9. Lots of towels at work area in case the corrector slips out of your grip.
10. If you put it together correctly, minimum collimation will be required.
There have been a number of these problems cropping up lately, I think Synta is using inferior grease now.If you are really brave, clean the old grease
off and add one drop of lithium grease. Run the primary through focus range a few times to distribute.
If you do this, you can later flock the inside of your scope to increase contrast.

Yuck! This is probably the primary mirror shaft nut. If you don't do anything it will eventually come off and smack the primary! This is not for the faint of heart. You must remove the corrector plate, reach down and CAREFULLY tighten the nut back up. The corrector plate is oriented to the primary. The manufacturer sorts corrector plates to mirrors. Before you remove the corrector, use masking tape to mark the exact placement of the corrector.(put the tape on the plate and the housing, then slice the tape at the edge). Might as well flock the inside of the scope while you have it open. It will increase contrast!

Hi,to remove it the door panel needs to come of and then the cover on in side of door at side of mirror there will be screws there for the mirror.hope this helps

There may be an oil level hole on the rear edge of your primary. This is a plug that you can remove and once you fill the primary to the point to where it starts running out of this hole, the primary is at it's proper level. I alway add the primary oil through the same hole that you check the tension of the primary chain through. Drain the primary and refill with a quart of oil. If you get the primary too full, the clutch will drag and you will not be able to find neutral with the engine running.

This model has a geometry mirror that is lies in the front of the cabinet. It is dirty and needs cleaned. Remove the middle front plastic cover, between the screen frame and speaker cover. Remover the screen frame, disconnecting the harness (4 screws are behing that middle cover ;). Clean the mirror and reassemble. Wipe the lens while you are in there and do not touch the big mirror... you'll really have a mess if you do. Also, use caution not to put pressure on that little mirror as you clean it, you'll mess up the geometry and end up with a trapezoidal picture.

The motor that pushes the scanner for faxes and scanner has finally given up (or a gear broke)... Most only have a 2 year lifecycle. HP has designed it that way. I used to work for HP All in One.. whenever someone would call in for that issues, the document we used ALWAYS (for all units) said "replace" :(

Hi! I used to work in the TV trade until about two years ago after 30 years of service, I`m now a bus and HGV driver. Whenever I had to repair one of these sets, I would remove the chassis and just take that into the workshop for repair. These mirrors are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and they are SILVERED ON THE FACE so if you go near it with a cloth, it WILL scratch the mirror. I never had to clean one so I`m just guessing, BUT Check the screen and projection lens/es FIRST. If they seem OK, I would just try and use a LOW PRESSURE AIRLINE but DON`T REMOVE THE MIRROR and DON`T let ANYTHING TOUCH IT. Best of luck, Ian.
