You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto on Mac or Windows Photo Gallery.

My Camera Rebel XT wont download the pictures. I get the message that Microsoft Document Reader is not compatible with this device! I dont know whats wrong. Can you help me?

Use a card reader to download the pics to a folder you create on the desktop. From there, you can send the pictures to a photo editing program or just double-click the folder to view the pictures. typrice_181.jpg

I cannot use the lcd to take pics how do i use it

Canon EOS Rebel XT / 350D does not offer Liveview shooting option which newer cameras offer. It does not have contrast based auto focus system like the ones you see on point and shoot cameras either. LCD is used to review pictures taken or navigate through the menu system. Besides, LCD on the back of the camera is so small and lack the details anyway. You are better off using the small viewfinder it offers.

VU600EN.exe canon rebel XT driver install problem

The drivers are located on the Canon website:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=11154

Use the drop down box labeled "Select OS" and select Windows Vista (x64).

C-150 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You need to install the correct software on your computer. They are usually called drivers. Here is a link to the Canon Rebel Xt page from Canon with all sorts of goodies you can download. The most important section to get things going for you is the drivers. Select your OS from the drop down list, download and install. If you don't have drivers your PC or Mac doesnt recognize the fine piece of hardware... your camera. Hit me up if you're still stuck.

Rebel XT offloading pics

I use Picasa for me photo handling and sometimes it seems to take forever for the computer to read the camera. Try giving it some extra time to hook-up. WHat do you use to download your pics to?

Internal memory

To LanaJones123

I'm afraid the Canon Rebel does NOT have an internal memory for storing pictures. Any pictures taken without a card installed will be lost.
