Philips navigator MK8 Gps antenna is showing good but no update. Red light continualy flashes indicating wrong date and time. Can you help

Navigate to Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region > Date and time > Set the time and date > Internet time > Change settings > check Synchronize with an Internet time server and click Update now.

Unfortunately I have now solution. But since misery love company, take comfort that I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, even after the software update.

It is quite common tomtom bug.
Do: 1. backup restore or 2. copy all original SD files to your new formated SD card. Restart TomTom and see if it works.

Hello Here is some more information for you to follow to guide you step my step. Device displays a white or red cross
If your navigation device displays a cross after you switch it on, it means that the TomTom application is not installed correctly.
Note: It is normal for the navigation device to show a cross while it is connected to the computer.

The solution depends on which TomTom software is used for updating. Check which software your navigation device uses for getting updates.
Devices using MyTomTom for updates
For navigation devices that use MyTomTom, reset your device.
Devices using TomTom HOME for updates
For navigation devices that use TomTom HOME, you can solve this problem by installing the latest application on your navigation device.Here is also a link that will help you more. This will answer all your questions Mike

If your navigation device shows only the start-up image or you see a flashing cross after you switch it on, it means that the TomTom application is not installed or cannot be found.

1. Connect your navigation device to your computer.
   
   
2. Reset your navigation device.
   
   TomTom HOME starts.
   
   
3. If HOME offers a new application, click Back.
   
   
4. Delete the TomTom application from your device and computer by clicking Manage my navigation device.
   
   
5. Reinstall the application by clicking Update my device.
   
   
6. Safely disconnect your device.

This model is discontinued and no maps are available any longer for this. It has become a dinosauer. Time to move forward into the micro electronic age of the newer types of GPS with wider screens. 3.5" are obsolete and map makers no longer want to cater for them.
Beware of bargains in 3.5" GPS no updates will be forthcoming

Most GPS problems - Hangs, frozen screens, problems acquiring satellites, ETC, can be attributed to the device not having the latest firmware installed.
This firmware enables it to communicate with the satellites - but if they aren't speaking the same language they get confused easily. For Garmin GPS Automotive units, Garmin has you do the following before sending it in for repairs:
1 - SOFT RESET
2 - HARD RESET (CLICK HERE to see instructions for either reset)
3 - UPDATE the device using their WebUpdater software (CLICK HERE for that) Garmin is the only company that offers repairs AFTER the warranty has expired. They offer a FLAT RATE REPAIR service for units no longer in warranty. For Other GPS units please consult your owner's manual or their support site - as each model - and even manufacture dates - can lead to different reset procedures. TomTom

MAGELLAN NEXTAR does NOT offer any types of Firmware or map upgrades or repair services. Instead - they have an exchange program to update to a new UNIT for around the same price as a repair would be. CLICK HERE for more on that. WARRANTY on most GPS devices is 1 year from the date of purchase. Broken screens are considered ABUSE - and not covered under warranty. Finally - If your unit is on the charger for HOURS, You've tried both the car AND USB type charger, and you turn it on... it stays on for a minute (or so) then powers down or never comes on at all - the battery has lost it's ability to hold a charge and must be replaced. Looking around YouTube - you can get a tutorial on how to CAREFULLY crack open just about any GPS. The tool(s) necessary typically are included with the battery purchase. Typically batteries run about $25 +/-. NiCd batteries are meant to be energized once a month so they keep active, and don't build up deposits that lead to their premature failure. Turn on the GPS. The forerunner will automatically sync time and date. Make sure the DST is switched to auto. I had the same problem and researched for the answer....which led me here. Turning on my GPS sync'd time and date for me. I hope this helps

I have a similar problem, unit not used since September 2008, now will not find any satellites. Self test all ok.   I know software updates were made available from time to time, last updated in 2004 by previous owner.
