My waste ink absorber is full. I wondered if I could fix it. Canon says a technician has to do it, but there are none anywhere near me.

Instructions
Things You’ll Need:
Gloves
Step 1:
Open the top of the Canon Pixma ip1000 and look inside.
Step 2:
Locate the waste ink absorber pads. These are at the bottom right inside your printer.
Step 3:
Put on the gloves. Now remove the waste ink absorber pads and holder from the printer by gently lifting them out. It feels like they snap out, so do not be afraid to tug gently to remove them.
Step 4:
Clean the waste ink absorber by soaking up the ink with a tissue or wipe. Set the waste ink absorber on some newspaper to avoid ink spills.
Step 5:
Go back to the Canon printer, and view the other waste ink absorber. This is also on the right-hand bottom in the back of the printer. This one has screws to remove and comes out with a plastic piece.
Step 6:
Wash the sponge with clear water. Allow it to dry completely. This may take at least a day. When it is completely dry, reassemble.
Step 7:
Replace the waste ink absorber pads and sponge. Connect the printer to the power source.

SOURCE: inkjet refills

hi,

as you are using a refilled cartridge, it is causing this problem. the thickness of ink in a hp genuine cartridge and a refilled cartridge varies. and also the refilled cartridge may make your printer faulty. so it is good to try with a new hp genuine ink cartridges.

thanks and regards

SOURCE: can't find tool box to check ink level - HP 6310 using Vista 2007

doesnt matter most printers have a feature of their own to check ink levels.
press the setup button on the printer and scroll down(with the arrow buttons) till you get tools press ok and now scroll through until you get ink level and select it by pressing the ok button, walla you should have your ink levels in front of you.

Now about the hp solution centre/hp director icon on your desktop (if you have installed the software).
Click on settings and click on printer toolbox and now check your estimated ink levels it will show the ink levels of the printer cartridges.

SOURCE: waste ink full

you have to replace your waste toner cartridge/pad. you can try resetting the "counter", which will clear the message and allow you to print. but eventually you will need to replace that waste ink pad, or ink will spill into your printer.

sorry I cannot give you better instructions on how to reset or replace the waste ink pad.
