The audio works and can be adjusted using the Fn + Page Up or Page Dn keys and all the settings are fine in control panel ( ihave checked all the recommendations above).

The problem still remains that the 3 Dell volume control buttons do not work.

I have this same problem. I replace the power circuit board but that did not fix it.

for some time the 3 buttons worked intermitantly. The mute button was the last to go. Isuspect the motherboard is on its' way out.

same prob on freshly loades XP Pro SP3 Inspiron 8500 (Bios A08). Audio functons from Fn keys but not from hinge-cover keys. Quickset does not help...nothing has worked...not even Dell's support.

I had the same issue. You can use the on screen volume buttons on screen to stop issue and don't use the physical buttons anymore. Watch out about a month after the volume problem started all physical buttons on my DXN7120 stopped working. There are a few reports of this online, I have not found a fix yet.

W902 Sony Ericsson. My Walkman button and my volume up wont work properly.. i'we already opened up the phone and cant seem to find any damage or visible faulties on the buttons. They seem unharmed and they...

Seems like a known issue with the W902. Same here, dropped my w902 a few months back and the Walkman button and Volume up keys not workin now.

Walkman button not really an issue as you still can navigate to it via the menu system but no volume UP key is annoying. You can't increase volume especially when you volume it down. Power the w902 down and up, will reset volume to 6/10.

Solution: I came across a site where you can change volume without the volume up key.

1. Ensure you lock the phone (* and Contact key)

2. While holding down the disconnect button (the one that you switch the phone off) and camera button (on the right side, bottom button), pressing 7 will decrease volume while * key will increase volume.

You need to hold both button for 7 and * to work. Works great for me as I dont have to replace my phone, hope this help.

Keypad not working v9 moto

The volume buttons on the side of the phone are sticking. My up volume button seemed fine, but someone told me to keep pushing it and the button will release. Sure enough, the volume controls started to work. I played with both the up and down buttons some more and the button below started working. A few more minutes monkeying around with the volume buttons and now all the buttons work.

Dell M60 volume buttons

At the left of your power button, past the word PRECISION, there is a slot for a screwdriver. With the screen fully open, use that slot to remove the power and volume buttons. At the other end of the stip you removed will be the connector that connects the buttons to the motherboard. Reconnect it better. I had this problem too.

Nokia volume

Hi.  I had a similar problem but only the down volume buttonw worked (which meant that my volume was at 1 but I couldn't get it to go any higher).  If you are able to use one of the volume buttons, press it once to take you to the voulme control screen; then use the centre button to conrol up and down using left and right.
