if u leave ur pc running for a few hours and u still see the same screen do a hard power down then reboot ur pc into to safe mode by press F8 as the manufacture logo disappear now after u boot into safe mode windows will finish the update r do a roll back automatically. if u weren't able to boot into to safe mode enter recovery mode and use a system restore to get back into ur system.
Power off the machine (hold down the power button for over 3 seconds), and restart it, but press the F8 button to go into Safe Mode. Use the system restore option to go back to a time before the update was installed (exact procedure alters based on your OS)
I would wait a good 10-20 minutes before going this route though, just in case the update IS installing, but being slow.
1. Boot the computer into the "Safe Mode" options by pressing F8 prior the Windows Logo.
2. Select the option "Repair Your Computer"
Note: If you do not have this option, you will need the client's Windows
Disc. Once you have that disc, boot into it as if you were to install
windows and after you select the language you will get the "Repair Your
Computer" option.
3. Now you can get into Command Prompt
4. From the Command Prompt window, navigate to \Windows\winsxs folder
5. Then type: rename pending.xml pending.old.xml
6. Now reboot the PC, you might still see the configuring updates, but this time it will go away.
Re boot in safe mode and run 'restore point' from the search box. Select a date/time just before the problem update happened. That will reset your date/time to before the update.
Boot into Safe Mode, press F8 at bootup, then when asked if you want safe mode desktop or system restore choose system restore and restore it to a time before you had this problem.
Boot into safe mode and undo the updates through Windows Update. You can boot into safe mode by continuously pressing the f8 key on your keyboard right after you turn the laptop on, and then select Safe Mode from the menu.
