Finally got it the normal way. Put the drill in reverse. Hold the outside ring very firmly and slowly run the drill (in reverse direction). It was stuck. After about 5 bursts on the trigger, it finally came unstuck.

How can I fix my drill. I was drilling and it froze up on me. You can turn it one way but not the other

Place the drill bit in a bench vise with the whole machine on it together spray the chuck in with good enough wd40 and take a bench hammer and a great plastic hammer , place the angled tip side to the 3 claws of the chuck that are holding the bit and beat slowly and with care the machine from the bit some times switch inbetween the place to beat every claw of the chuck make a little time to do this but do not forget wd40 to spray after and if the machine is beat from the drill spray the whole chuck inside and try to unlock in the most cases it will function again , otherwise there must be an chuck replaced.

Play in the sds chuck when a drill bit is inserted

This can be due poor chuck settings and could be that it is not tightening properly. You can oil or use some degreasing spray to unlock the jam or else the chuck could be defective.

Chuck is stuck , can't get it unlock to tighten around a new bit

Could be a dying battery making it not be able to open itself cuz theres not enough juice, try charging the battery and do it or get some wd-40 and spray it around the chuck and let it drip over the bit into it.

I have a Black & Decker 18V cordless drill with keyless chuck. The spot where the drill bit fits is in the open position stuck and won't turn in either position. What am I missing how to unlock it?

Look at the three jaws in the chuck,if on is further out than the others the you need to tap ti back into place with a small punch and a hammer. If this does not work then you need to replace the chuck, remove the screw at the bottom of the chuck[where you put the bit],then you will need to to clamp vise grip on the chuck and with it pointed away from you hit the vise grips with a hammer with a sharp blow downward and it should come off.Hope this helps.

Keyless drill has locked in a closed position with the drill bit

I just put mine in reverse and grasp the chuck with a pair of channel locks. Pull the trigger and hold the channel locks tightly. The chuck will release the bit.

How do I ''unlock'' and twist to change a drill bit

hold the drill so the handle is facing you and the drill bit is facing away then twist the chuck clockwise. some quick chucks have two halfs in which case you hold the back collar (nearest you still)
if its really tight it the drill bit into the chuck with something soft like a piece of wood so as not to damage the drill

My model is TE76ATC;the drilling bit is stucked and wouldn't power on

Unfortunatly sometimes the entire chuck has to be replaced when a bit gets jammed in it.

Put the bit in a vice and unlock the collar on the drill then wrestle the bit out.

Next time regularly spray lube into the chuck to prevent the bit from locking in the chuck.

Keyless chuck is stuck with bit inside I can't turn it counter clockwise to unlock I have a Makita 6349d drill

Try two channel lock pliers.
Hold the bit close the the base with one.
Take the other (cloth comes in handy here to prevent marring) and turn the chuck counter clockwise to release.

Alternative (little WD40 on the chuck)
One channel lock plier hold the chuck and put the drill in reverse.
The WD40 should allow the chuck to release easier.

Good luck!

Chuck on Drill not moving

Re: Ryobi P205 special from Home Depot:
Confusing at first, but easy fix:
The chuck is shipped in the UNLOCKED position (and tightly unlocked, too).
I gripped mine w/rubber gloves and turned toward LOCK direction. It freed up with some effort.
But that's the trouble, it is a bit confusing because you would think you need to unlock it, but it's already unlocked.
