No manual for your receiver? Find it here and read it.

You have to tell it there is a sub then, tests the sub then make some bass management choices.

Yamaha YST-FSW050 Ultra-compact powered subwoofer. It has bad vibration between 30-50 hz?

Question edited for clarity, full make model (what it is)'.
Question moved to Yamaha Audio.

It may be sympathetic vibration and is coming from something nearby. Put it on a folded towel or sit in the floor to test it.

I obtained a pair of Yamaha YST MS50 speakers with no subwoofer. Can they be adapted to use a different sub, such as the inexpensive Yamaha YST MSW5? The clear problem is in different cabling.

Sound is not loud

most yamahas have a setting to lower main speaker volume 10 db, accessed by the remote, or front panel controls in the settings.this is a very small sub, only a 6.5 inch driver and 100w.
sub placement in regard to the seating position is very important in order to get good bass response.

How do I connect the YST-SW45 sub to a different system

It's a standard non-proprietary standalone self-powered sub that accepts any input one could want. Your unnamed electronics will be the determining factor. Manuals spell it all out.

I recently purchased a yamaha YST-FSW100 subwoofer and plugged connected it to my HTR 6140. Subs woulld not work. How will Iknow which devise is not working?

Turn the sub on, then touch the end of the sub lead when you take it out of the back of the amp..it should buzz to show the sub is ok . If the sub is ok then go through the setup on the Yamaha and tell it there is a sub connected in the speaker setup.

Need a hookup diagram for yamaha rx-v461 plus yamaha yst-sw216 please

Hi,
Here you can find the manual for your subwoofer. Looking at its back side, it has 2 RCA plug input for stereo. Receiver has just mono sub output, but as low frequencies are not easily locatable, mono is perfectly OK.
Just connect receiver SUB-OUTPUT with RCA cable to your subwoofer's RCA LEFT input. Then adjust volume to match rest of your speakers.
