I have somehow turned on the French keys on my laptop. This has happened before but I forget how to fix it. When I try to type a question mark I get a capital E with the accent mark over it. Please remind me how to fix this.

I stumbled on the solution after an hour of fiddling around. am going to write it down and tape it to my computer cos it's soooo annoying when it happens.
just need to press the left ALT key and the right SHIFT key to get rid of the french keys from appearing on the screen as you type.

I would appear that you have somehow setup something on those keys - e with an accent above is most likely French

Hello ... I was typing away and everything was fine, but then all of a sudden when I tried to get the question mark it is a French character instead. How do I get the key back to being a question mark?

Your keyboard's region layout for your computer may have changed somehow. Here's how to change it:

1. Click on Start Menu
2. Type in the bar that says "Search programs and files": Region and Language
3. Click on Keyboards and Languages tab, then click on Change Keyboards
4. In the Default input language tab, select your layout (probably English United States - US)

If it is not listed, click on Add and scroll down to your desired language and layout.

Best of luck!!

Question mark key always comes up as a french letter e -

I use 2 different keyboard types too.
Have you tried pressing [Ctrl]+[Shift] to change the keyboard type you are in. Even if you choose a default language in a program all other program will still use the other keyboard type, hope this helps.

How can I unlock the blue function keys on my HP Pavilion dv2000?

Hi, I had the same problem and found the solution on another website:

To turn on and off Bilingual blue keys:

Hit Ctrl + Shift + shift
(yes, both shift keys at the same time in addition to ctrl)

and that turns on and off the Canadian bilingual blue keys on HP lap tops.

It's so annoying and happens to me frequently. Hope this helps.
