LG refrigerator NOISE

There are no error codes. but my french door refrigerator is making noise when it is close. but if i open the doors the noise will go away. if i open the freezer door the noise is still there. the noise can go on for hours and it could shut off anytime it wants. i m thinking its a the bad fan? but not sure. can someone help. thanks Annoying loud humming noise that goes away when the fridge doors are opened, but not the freezer door. Sometimes it goes off on its own, but doesn't stay off long enough. Help...I am going crazy with this obnoxious noise. Our LG French door bottom freezer has been nothing but trouble since the moment we got it. We are over the 1 yr warranty so now we must pay to have it fixed. I am willing to try to fix this myself to save the money. Any ideas?

I am now having a problem with my Icemaker fan. I have the error message; er if . Am told the fans freezes up. Was told to unplug it for 3 hours and then plug in again and every thing should be fine.. It came on and then I got the error message again in 2 hours..did this twice. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT!! They say the fix for this is to pull plug 24 - 48 hours before the repair man comes..(where do I put my food)???? They, they pull the whole interior of the fridge out and take this sheet of plastic and screw it to the ceiling and sides of fridge!!! What does this solve. What causes the ceiling to fall???? Fix that! Now I will have a cobbled together fridge...no no no, I paid $2799.00 for this 18 months ago. I did buy a extended warranty.. I'm done with LG.

Same problem, unplugged and set a timer for an hour, hope this works.  I would never, ever buy another LG product either, but it's too late for this one.  I guess LG should be banned from making appliances.  Meanwhile they have ripped a bunch of people off with their sub-par products.

I have the sam eproblem...another site I went to said it is ice build up on the fan. Unplug the frig for an hour (don't open the doors or everything will spoil) and then plug in...it may defrost a bit and allow the fan to turn freely.

I inadvertently hit the Ice Maker button located inside the freezer turning it on. It started to make noises when it was cycling to request water. I do not use the Ice Maker feature in my French Door LG refrigerator and did not connected the water source to it. When the Ice Maker button was turned off, the noises stopped.

LG LFX33975ST French Door Refrigerator, 32.5 cu. ft. Which fan is making noise?

Question edited for clarity, MAKER.
Question moved to Model Category.

Your fridge freezer has three fans.

The compressor evaporator fan cuts in and out as required to maintain temperature.

The fridge evaporator circulation fan runs to maintain an even temperature. It stops when to open the door and resumes when you close it and stops when the set temperature is reached as long as the compressor isn't running. If the compressor is running, the fan normally runs to prevent icing which happens slowly.

The freezer also has a fan, and that runs pretty much all the time unless target temperature is met and the compressor is not running. This fan runs when you open the door to stop the moist air from the room freezing on contact to the 0'F, -18'C evaporator fins. The fan keeps the air moving to deposit less frost.

It sounds like your is running normally except for the noise. Trace the noise and find it. The compressor fan has a Shark Paper fibre board cover and these often distort over time and touch the fan blades. That is the common cause. The less common cause is the internal fans pinging off built up ice that should have been removed during the defrost cycle.

LG lxf31945st 3 door french er F1 code and chugging noise. WIll it effect my food I cant get anyone out for a week! Not sure if it is the ice fan or not

If its not making ice then its just the fan the blows air to the icemaker compartment. This will not affect your food. The ice in your icebucket will melt though. I would empty it.

Creaking noise after refrigerator door is closed

only thing I can thing of is the slight vacuum caused by the quick temperature change when the warm air that enters when the door is open is trapped after closing the door. As it cools it shrinks and creates a mild vacuum which should dissipate after a few seconds. The creaking is probably the sound of the pressure regulating between the fridge and the room. Might indicate a problem with one of your seals but more than likely is not a concern.

Grrr noise that stops when doors are opened

The noise you are hearing is probably the fan blades hitting some ice build up. Un plug your refrigerator for over night and it will defrost melting the ice. If it still makes the noise after that then the fan motor is going bad, you will need to replace it soon. The reason that it stops when you open the door is because the power is cut off to the fan when you open the door.

Strange noise when doors are closed

Is it the Kenmore French Door model made by by LG?  I have the similar LG refrigerator since 2/2007 and have had several problems with it.  The sound you hear may be  a fan motor that is failing or freezing up.  The noise will stop when you open the doors because that shuts off the fan motors. In the last two years I have had the refrigerator fan, the air channel duct, the mother board, the ice maker fan, the ice maker duct and the mother board (again) replaced (under warranty, fortunately).  After the first service call I installed a power surge protector since a component on the mother board was fried.  I think the second mother board replacement was due to a software change related to the ice maker issue.  There is also a case related to LG Energy Star ratings (that includes the Kenmore made by LG) that you can register for that is supposed to make free modifications and an ongoing rebate payment for as long as you own the refrigerator.  I found an LG service manual PDF on line (search by model number) that has diagnostic codes and test procedures that is very helpful when I need to troubleshoot and communicate with the repair shop.

LG LRFC25750 Refrigerator French Door

Freezer section evaporator fan motor bearing are going out. This would be indicted by a high pitched squealing noise. Have the fan motor replaced and it should solve your problem.

LG refrigerator makes loud noise and then stops running.

You are seriously frozen up. Defrost the unit completely. Then, be aware that 'window shopping', leaving uncovered liquids in the box and poor door sealing (too heavy a load on the door ... too much on shelves) can cause condensation. Defrost with hot air or leave unplugged and open for about 2 days. You'll see alot of water come out.
