Oven will not heat i set the temp , turn it on,

The ignitor is not working right and is going bad....
have the repair man replace the ignitor, or DIY....

When I turn on my Maytag performa using the "bake" function, everything looks ok on the display, however the temp. never rises above 100. I've tried "bake" and "convect", and neither one work. "Clean" doesn't work either. The oven will lock, and display shows that it's heating up, but temp. never rises.
However....."broil" feature works just fine.
Please help.

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future. we bought a new oven

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

The temp control is not telling the ignition system to engage....have a service company look at it.

the ignitor needs replacing, that's the glow that you see. it's not getting hot enough to open the safety valve.

Sir, I think the top oelement is for broiling ONLY. It should not turn on when baking. The clicking may be the oven heating up.
How far apart were the oven temp instrument and the digital?
Don't expect them to match...they are inaccurate.

1. Heat water until it boils. Place digital therm in boiling water until it comes up to 212deg. If it is not at 212 in boiling water, record the error.(this gives a rough calibration to the digital)
2 Turn on oven, set to 350 deg, place digital therm on rack. Wait until oven reaches 350 (on stove) and read the digital. Note the difference between the two

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
