We have an RCA model F27450 TV that seems to have automatically changed its picture size. The picture seems widescreen and cuts words, etc off the screen. The manual and on-screen menus don't have any information on how to adjust picture size. We've tried unplugging all cables and power sources and then replugging in but that didn't help either. What could it be and how do we fix it?

SOURCE: picture size

Mine did this last night. I turned the TV on, and the aspect ratio had seemingly changed by itself. There is very little info about this on the internet.

Good day.

Try to look at the rear side of your unit if there are manual switches there to restore you view to normal settings. if none, refer the issue to a qualified repairman.

Picture seems to big for TV.cant read bottom words on screen and words are cut off on side also. Cant see scrores on any sports or read peoples names on bottom of the screen

Using the menu or settings button on your remote, access the TV's menu and find the area for picture settings and zoom. You're likely set to a zoom mode, so cycle through the options until you find the zoom setting that sizes to your TV best. (On most widescreens, the best picture is often on the setting 'panarama.'

Keep in mind that not all programs and show are in widescreen format. When set to normal, you will get those black bars on the sides because the program is sized for the older TV's. Some TV's will have a zoom option, but that will cut off some of the top and the bottom of your picture.

Until everything goes widescreen, you are stuck in normal with those black bars or widescreen with the fat people.

I hate distortion in my TV image, so I am perfectly fine with my TV on normal.

Good luck.

On my RCA model F27450 does not have any sound.

the output of an amplifier sound pass through a jack. this jack has a change over contact springs.
also test the speaker resistance.
also check the AV cables resistance.

My tv zooms in and changes the format.

This is normal - you are zooming in on the picture. Most people use the zoom feature to "stretch" a widescreen movie so it will fit the screen.

Philips 42PF7320A cropping issue

Pete,

When using a hd connection on a philips tv and (I am assuming this is the case) the tv disables the format features on the tv and only lets you select widescreen and automatic, if you are using hd adjust the picture size from the cable/satellite box, look for it in the box's menu system or on the remote, it is usually labeled, aspect ratio, zoom, format or something to that nature, hope I helped you

I have a TX32PM11C 32"

You have to turn off the "automatic", so the TV will not automatically show you what it wants you to see. Then, if you select 16:9 , you will see true widescreen.
Since you cannot physically change the size or shape of your TV, the picture itself will be black on the top and bottom. Since not all programs are widescreen, sometimes the sides will be black. You can try the other sizes to see which works best for you.

Picture size

I called RCA about this and first was told that it was my cable company till I told the rep that it does this even when I unhook the cable. I was then told that I could take it in to get it fixed and that even it it was a bad part on their end that I could end up paying for it as if might be the pictue tube or the screen. Guess this will be the last RCA that I ever buy again.
