Did you make sure you have no shorted or grounded speakers or speaker wires? Make sure you don't have a bad speaker also. If everything checks out, you may have a bad internal output ic.
If the sound is coming out clearly with the radio on, then there is a problem with the cd drive or its connections. If your stereo has aux. inputs, you could run an mp3 player until your ready to replace it.
Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier.
If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).
Certainly, the output IC might need to be replaced, also check to see if there is a factory amp somewhere in the car.
Additionally, double-checking the wiring is a must.
How long does it take for the unit to heat up?
no sound from speakers
