ERROR MESSAGES Hi,Sometimes I can fax but sometimetimes I cant All I get is different error messages,eg comm error 350,comm error 356,comm error 382,comm error 441,comm error 390 messages CAN YOU PLEASE HELP

PROBABLY BAD PHONE LINE, CAN TRY SOME OF THE FOLLOWING
SLOW DOWN THE RX TO 1700
TURN OFF ECM
INSTALL DSL FILTER EVEN IF ITS NOT A DSL LINE
MAKE SURE THE PHONE COPANY KNOWS ITS A FAX LINE
IF ITS VOIP IT MAY NEVER WORK WELL
RESEAT ALL CONNECTORS IN FAX 3900
TRY SETTING TO MMR
MAY ALSO BE PROBLEM WITH THE SENDING FAX MACHINEOR, THERE PHONE LINE

There is a big chance this is a line problem, contact your phone line company before trying to fix or replace your Fax modem on the MFP.

When it has no paper then your all incoming fax documents save memory,Insert paper in cassette box and press start key or memory check button.

Hello sir ; Why don't try to replace a phone cable or check the wall jack.

Hi just a note to say first theing to check is that the phone line is connected at both ends to correct sockets and that the connector to teh fax unit is connected to the line socket and not the phone socket as this is the main cause of line errors.. Good luck you could also check to see of you need to dial 0 or 9 first before you dial your number as you ma y be on an exchange line.. also check the fax settings to see if you have set the line type correctly either pulse or tbx..

It could be line noise on the phone.., which allows phones to work ok, but causes problems with faxes. See this document from the brother website concerning comm.error:

Would recommend having the phone company run a line check to make sure the phone line is clean of interference !

check your dsl cable get dial tone or not.

Call your cell phone from the fax machine.

Call some fax numbers on a regular phone and listen for fax tones.

Do you have a DSL phone line?

232-A communication failure has occurred between the two machines.
327-*Reattempt the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
356-The remote user has pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be aborted.
442-An error occurred during transmission after one or more partial pages had been sent. The transmitting machine was unable to restart the control channel (handshaking) before sending more data. This error typically occurs when the receiving fax disconnects after receiving part of a page but can also occur if the receiving fax is using a fax format that is incompatible with the HP fax machine (usually during color faxing).

could be down to the line, had a similar issue which I believed to be hardware related, so got supplier to send a new fax out, spoke to someone at canon who said is def hardware related, any yet it turned out to be rabbits outside chewed through a cable (was in scotland..) so was a BT issue.
