Our magic chef oven will not turn on .. when we press the oven button we get a message that says locked and we cannot program the oven temperature

A gas certified technician needs to fit a new thermostat. They can source the part, fit it and check for safety.

The failure code F2 means the Oven temperature is too hot. Please check the sensor harness. Replace relay board, if present, or oven temperature sensor (RTD).

On many Magic Chef models, press the Help button to bring up the menu. Choose the number for Child Lock (I think it's #1), then choose 2 to turn Child Lock off.

Magic chef ovens and various other models of ovens have this no cancel feature this is due to the intense heatthat is generated during the cleaning process Normally if you press and hold the cancel button for 10 seconds this may cancel it out but the oven door will remain locked untill he temperature gets back to around 100 degrees see the cleaning temperature are almost around 600 degrees ok also you can unplug the oven and leave it set for at least 1 hour to allow the internal reset feature to reset the oven ok this has been known to take care of this problem too ok

Hi, the F2 code on the Magic Chef Oven implies that the Oven temperature is too hot.

you know i am thinking more towards a bad temp probe.

That's fairly typical but I would suggest removing the shelves and cleaning those with oven cleaner if they need it at all. Expect the door to remain locked for additional hours for safety.
The temperature rises to > 900 degrees F and is necessary to start the catalytic process that consumes the crud.
Sorry I didn't see your message earlier-

This could be caused by a lack of air within the oven cavity, once the air is used up the flame will go out, it will then work again once it is relite, but will probably do the same again, this could be dangerous and requires on site proffesional attention. Regards Engineer
