I'm new. I just want to read how ebay works? For instance, how long does an auction last? How can i know if i'm outbid?

I've been looking for one since last year this time. My mom wanted another one. She'd dropped hers and it broke unrepairable. I've looked at so many stores and searched online for months now. If anyone knows where they sell them I'd appreciate a reply. I have been outbid on ebay already and have been searching for it for quite some time now. This or the Pancake Factory would be nice.

somebody sniped your bid at the last second most likely unless Ebay took it off the last second. Check your "not won" box on the left of your summary column to check on all bids placed by clicking on the total bids showing that were made

Are you in a "minority ebay area" ... I have found baygenie pretty useless the past few months - like you I have had it miss austions, display really screwy data in some columns, display austion times as "indefinite" etc. I use the Australian eBay site so maybe it's just bad with minority, low-population country specific ebay sites; probably works fine against US and European sites but tiny sites like Australia the developers can't be bothered with doing tweaks.

Use the old password then if that doesn't work, go to your e-mail address and read the confirmation of the new password and see if there is a link to click to confirm the new password.

wire transfer is not an accepted payment method. if you find the item on eBay there should be an item number. it is a 12 digit number also there should be a buy it now button or if it's an auction you need to win it first. The item should be in your purchase history as a purchase that you won. If it's not on eBay then Stop paying for this item because it will certainly be a scam. Please do not pay, even with PayPal if you didn't find this item on eBay.

You'll pay a minimum of the Reserve price. You'll only pay more if someone else bids a higher price.

Once an auction goes past the Reserve, it works like any other normal eBay auction. The Reserve is just for the seller to prvent the item going for less than that price.

This is a common problem with TZ3s. Power the camera on, then puff a little graphite onto the lens cover and coax it open with a tooth pic. Do this, powering the camera on/off till lens opens normally. Add little more graphite if necessary, but sparingly.

Graphite is used because it is extremely slippery, but will not attract dust like an oil will. At the same time, it is black! so you don't want to use anymore than absolutely necessary make lens work. Even then, check to be sure lens itself is clean after, and wipe carefully with an Eyeglass lens cloth only if necessary.

Another option in to remove the lens cover altogether by just pulling the leafs out of the camera. Another option is to sell your working but lens cover problem to a repairman on ebay, and buy a good TZ3 or TZ5 on ebay used, refurbished or new. Good prices if you bide your time.

Don't put in your best bid to the very last minute of the auction. In the mean time, put a camera you are interested in on your MyEbay Watch list and set a reminder alarm on your cell phone about 5 minutes before the auction is to close, then if the price is still good, enter your best bid 30 seconds before the end of the auction. Refresh the auction page on your PC to keep track of the bidding right up to the last 30 minutes so you can see the last remain bid and if it is worth outbidding on this camera. Again, if you are not in a hurry and bide your time, you can get a great buy. There are plenty of these cameras sold every day.
