Casement windows, that crank outward, stick. This makes some of them impossible to close completely without pushing them in from the outside.

This is an old question, but someone may be currently having trouble with their Pella casement window opening and closing. After examining the window, see if you can locate a small plastic "shoe" at the bottom and top of the window sash.

This is a small piece of plastic that the window "rides" on. When this plastic breaks or softens, the window doesn't operate as designed. Parts are still available, but getting directions on removing and replacing are almost non-existent.

A complete step-by-step procedure can be found at http://www.educationdx.com/Pella-window-shoe.html

Don't know why this is posed in Chainsaws, but here goes. Check if the windows are 'square', meaning that there are good even gaps all around the window when it is closed. If not, the window may need to get shimmed to make it 'square' again. This is especially a problem on casement windows for bay or bow windows as they hang over the edge of the house. When properly installed, the weight of the window frame is tied into the attic rafters (on a ranch house) by wire cable so the window will not sag over time. If there is a framing support under a bay/bow window, it may need to be adjusted to bring the window back to square.

There is an exhaust switch on the front of the unit. (open or closed position). When should each be used?

exhaust when you want to change air inside room more than you want cooling and dehumid efficiency. It ports air to outside, to be replaced by air from the outside (often from elsewhere in house, rather than via the AC unit). Does that answer it?

Please anyone suggest me is it appropriate to choose Casement doors and windows?

The Casement doors and windows are best to to use as they are made up of UPVC which is a cost effective and long lasting. Casement doors and windows are resistant to heat, offer you proper ventilation and they are not prone to termites. So, don't think much, just go 4 dat. Cant open back doors how to open them

It is unusual for both rear doors to have this problem. If they are seldom used they can "stick" however. If you have power door locks and you can see the knob moving when the switch is pressed, chances are the doors are not locked when "unlock" is pressed.

Make sure they are unlocked by pulling up firmly on the lock knob by hand. If that fails, the doors may just be "stuck". Have you tried pulling the inside handle and pushing outward on the door from the inside while a helper lifts the outside handle and pulls outward.

If the doors have "child safety locks" you should only be able to open door from the outside when the safety lock is on.

Can you run the machine without venting it outside,I have mislaid my manual.

If an A/C unit is not pumping to the outside the hot air it removes from the room it's in, it acts as a dehumidifier. Without venting, the heat is just put back into the room.

More info, let me know.

I seem to be having a problem with the rear driver's side window. When I lower the top and then attempt to close the window it goes up to about 1/2 inch of actually closing completely. What is the best...

regulator is going bad, to get it to close you can push up on the window and have someone push the window button up, this should allow the window to close. You can also pull the door panel off and look at the regulator and cable sometimes you can adjust the cable. There are usually four to five screw and then the door panel pops off. The arm rest and door handle have these screws but then can also be on the outside panel sometimes. Hope this helped tim

What is purpose of pull lever on top right of decorative panel

It's an air intake vent damper. If you push it in, the unit won't pull any air from outside, instead it'll recirculate air from the room. If you pull it outward, it allows the unit to pull air from outside. During the day when it's hot outside, the lever should be pushed into the closed position to allow for more efficient cooling. At night, if you want to exchange air from outside when it's cool enough, pull out the lever to allow that to happen. The unit will exhaust hot air no matter if this switch is in or out.

Venting for portable air-condioners

They make special window units designed specifically for casement windows. They are taller and skinnier than standard window a/c's. They are no where near as common as standard window a/c's so you might have to look a little harder, but they are out there.

Kitchenaid oven door will not stay closed

I had the same problem on my parents Kitchenaid KEMS378GWH0 oven, the door would only close enough to keep the light on. They propped a chair against it to cook. My father replaced the hinges and it worked for about a week. He noticed that pulling outward on the door at the very bottom edge often allowed it to close enough to use.
After completely dismantling the oven to get access to the brackets that the hinges slide into, we found it was not broken. We decided to expand on the only near solution we had and find a way to make the bottom of the door 'push out'. Our solution was very simple. Remove the small metal plate that covers the door insulation. This revealed that the insulation is a braided hollow rope that is held in by small clips that push through holes in the front of the oven. We threaded some small metal rods about 3/8 inch in diameter into the hollow insulation pushed the clips back in to re-attach the insulation, replaced the metal cover plate.
It worked!
