I have an infinity basslink on a 1998 BMW 740i and it has worked just fine since for more than 8 years. To days ago I turn on the car and the sub was fine but after couple of minutes the sub made a a high sound like a "boom" few times and it just shuts down. The power led is on and the servo light is always on. I removed the fuse and put it back after couple of hours and turn on the car and worked fine for only few minutes. Since then the servo light is on and when i shut down the car the sub turn off after five minutes and just before that makes a bass sound. does this means is blown up?

SOURCE: Infinity basslink is messed-up

You may have blown the fuse in the AMP. Check it and let me know.

SOURCE: Sub is blowing fuses!! :(

The issue is most likely a short in the amp internal circutry where power is essentially flowing without resistance acrosss the short. You may or may not have sound or crackling noise as it depends on where the short is.

If you are electronically inclined, I suggest the folliowing:

- disconnect all power and open the amp up
- look for any burn marks around the circut board and parts.
- first focus in on the area where the power comes in - see if any diodes (black cylinders with stripes on them) are burnt / cracked
- next have a look at all the MOSFETS. These should be 3-legged components and will likely be mounted to the shell or heatsink. Look for any burn marks or cracks on these.
- also look for any wire or component that may be shorting other components. Generally all wires should have shielding and all components should be soldered firmly. Anything crossing other components could be a problem.

If you find any burnt/cracked components, they will need to be replaced.

Here is a sample image showing the MOSFET chips to the top and bottom on the aluminum rail.

I need the wires to conect my infinity basslink 10''

Any auto parts store or WalMart will sell adequate speaker wires. For a sub of this power rating, you'll be fine with 14GA speaker wires (pronounced 14 gauge) but if you want to get beefier wires in case you upgrade the sub later, I'd recommend this 10GA hookup kit or something comparable.

My sub woofer wont turn back on

Hello austin_optiz,

If you have had 2 units with the same problem, I'd say that yes, there is a problem with the "sound sensing" function of the auto turn-on circuit. Either it's not getting the correct level or one side is being shorted or grounded. Some vehicle speakers may have one side at ground potential which could cause the auto turn-on to fail.

If the Basslink operates normally otherwise, I'd recommend that you just connect a 12V + fused and switched source to the remote terminal. Wire it through a conveniently mounted toggle switch and turn it on and off manually.

Hope this helps.

Infinity Basslink

Hello,
That popping you hear is most likely the voice coil blown and your not going to get much out of it now. Discontinue use of the unit so it doesn't blow the amp, and you can get the sub replaced if you don't want to toss it.
Good luck, hope this helps

2nd Basslink, still no power-on. Please help

this is in response to the post below:

I just bot a basslink t and i wired it up and nothing it just keeps blowing the fues in the unit i got mine on ebay2.gif so i dont know if i can use the warranty dose anybody have an ida for me- britter623

I got a used basslink about a month ago and had the exact same prob kept blowing fuses...found out that the voice coil had blown on the infinity...so I had a brand new dvc polk 10 sittin in the closet, I swapped them out, put the polk in the place of the infinity sub, however, the magnet is much larger, hence, dual voice coil, it would rattle sooo much from the passive radiator against the magnet, also could not turn the gain up at all due to the rattle. I got the bright idea to build a "custom fiberglas enclosure for the polk and incorporate the infinity's parts(amp/control) I finished the box finally last night and hooked it up this morning, no power, no lights, no nothing! s@#%, F&@%! ANyone had a prob w/the amp not having the lights turn on, no power??? Hope that helps about your fuse blowing issue.

From what i have heard, If you have a speaker level input connection. this sympton does occur. You buy a scosche LOC and try giving the input to Basslink, it should work fine

Basslink drops out.

The auto on switch should only be in the on position when the REM wire is NOT connected. Auto on can be flaky. Basslinks respond better to RCA inputs then the high level ones. You might try getting an RCA line converter, they work very well with the Basslink.
